And well yeah, no crap Jokinen has had better career numbers up until now. One guy just turning 24 and one guy being 30 might have to do with that.
I would obviously take Backlund over Jokinen, based on youth, potential, and what his current level of play is. Frankly, and I feel dirty saying it, I think Stajan is currently better than both.

Also, Crosby just scored.

Well there is a doubt, a serious doubt. Jokinen isn't a healthy scratch tonight because of salary concerns. Wouldn't even think about trading Backlund for Jokinen.

Anyways, Crosby Crosby Crosby.

I'll stop here, but he's not really a healthy scratch actually. Reasoner took him out a few weeks ago, and he hasn't played since then. Game time decision tonight, and he should come back next game.

Here's an article detailing how trading for Jokinen was a great move for Pittsburgh. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=668132

There also is the two-way element of Jokinen's game. Adding another forward who is comfortable at both ends of the ice could prove to be of significant value in the playoffs. And Jokinen has something of a postseason track record: He scored seven times in 18 games (including three game-winners) during Carolina's run to the 2009 Eastern Conference Finals, where the Hurricanes were swept by the Penguins.

Yeah, I was surprised when you said healthy scratch cause I know he's been playing well for the Penguins.

Regardless, wouldn't trade Backlund for him.

Think that's Iginla's 6th shot of the night right there.

Anyone getting a distinct feeling that the second one is going to be pretty short? The only series that might even go 6 games will be Boston/New York.

Oh look, the refs finally realized that the Senators are capable of taking penalties. Nice timing on that.

Way less exciting to watch now that Iginla's been demoted to the 3rd line.

"unbelievable leadership" is how Weeks described Gonchar talking to a relief goalie.... the hyperbole these guys use...

Kind of like when you can recognize a building full of "hockey educated fans" by their ability to make a sign about a 'back-up' goalie that has played more along the lines of a 1B the entire season?

You don't blame that third goal on him, do you?

The blame goes to whoever threw that silly pass like that. Iginla has like 8 shots.

No, I don't blame the goal on him. He just hasn't looked too good I think. He should have been able to bury that chance against the cold backup. He's getting shots, but he can't buy a goal. I dunno.

As opposed to not getting shots?
