If you're a Telus user you might want to start keeping an eye on your usage or purchase the unlimited bandwidth for $15.

I called to cancel based on this and (after being transferred to retentions) they gave me unlimited data for 6 months for free. I said thanks, but this just means I'm cancelling in 6 months. The rep hinted that he'd been giving a lot of people that deal to keep them as customers, and that he'd be surprised if I still had a reason to cancel after 6 months...

Mick - is the subtext that they might be increasing the caps in the next 6 months?

They are probably lumping cord cutters with the pretentious people who say, "TV? Oh, I don't watch TV", as though they are far too good for such banal entertainment. I'm pretty sure those people are vegans too.
I do like TV. I don't watch as much as some people but when I proudly tell someone I don't have cable, I am trying to convert them for the sake of a bigger picture: to take the power away from the cable companies who don't give consumers better options.

Yes, there are lots of people that proudly declare "I don't even own a TV". Yet, they watch tons and tons of television series on Netflix on their laptop. FYI, that counts as watching "TV".

Sling TV looks very interesting to me and I may give it a try as the summer comes to an end and my screen time increases. I'm wondering tho if there is any way to get the Canadian sports channels live and online? The only thing I miss from before I became a cord cutter is the morning sports highlights loops. I know I can watch individual game highlights either on TSN or Sportsnet's websites, and ATV shows game highlights in the NHL app, but I'm looking for something that is continuous and with commentary. I guess I miss my Plays of The Week & Highlights of the Night...

I'm ok with that. Do you have any info you can PM me about less than legal ways to stream TSN/SportsNet?

Only way I see that working is if they disallow IP addresses of known VPN services, which U.S. users might legitimately be using.

Anyone with HBO Now received that email? I just looked at my HBO account, there's no way they could know I'm Canadian.

In case anyone else runs into this it was caused by an update by Netflix. They added Google dns to their list so all requests are sent to Google.
I had to get a new router to setup static routing and now I'm back to watching us Netflix.

I guess I'll ask here because I'm not sure where else to. Can anyone tell me about these Android TV boxes that are out there? I have a Chromecast and wonder about whether I could just stream from my laptop, or whether these boxes are much better or something?
I'm debating picking one up this week for a certain boxing match this weekend...

If you have chromecast I wouldn't bother. It's more for having something directly hooked in where you don't need to have a separate device to stream from but I find it easier to control from a chromecast connected device anyway. Some of the less-legitimate ones have baked in connections to less-legitimate streaming services (especially Asian ones) though.

I sent you a PM. If you are casting from Kodi on your pc, there is no difference, assuming the full screen cast works well for you

Thanks for all of your information and help! It was excellent and very helpful. I didn't have any luck in getting the computer to cast properly through Chromecast, but there could be a setting somewhere that I could use? Otherwise I guess the Chromecast only works in the browser and won't mirror the computer in general...I'm not sure. Maybe that is the advantage of one of the TV boxes though.
