maybe i just am not a big 'big hitter' but playing HUT and offline season thus far, i don't get into many auto fights, in fact the number is perfect (probably less than a fight per game avg).

i am really enjoying the game so far. it isn't a big jump from the last version, but the enhancements to the game do make it a fun game to play. take my opinion with a grain of salt, nhl is the only video game i play all year, so a new flavour is always welcomed with open arms, almost regardless of quality to be honest

I care. I love reading both the negative and positive posts about a new game as it makes my decision on whether I want to buy the game.

Anyone tried EASHL drop-in yet? Would like to know if the revised lobby format works better.

as i said earlier, there's a difference between people who say they have played the game and say the negatives (which I like as well), versus people who just read that and have to post that they are not buying the game, it adds nothing considering they haven't tried it, your choice to buy the game won't be made by someone who never tried the game and just posted "i'm not buying the game" ... and if it does - "I've jumped off a 500 meter tall cliff, it's fun, you should do it"

you can play the game (demo) without buying it.

yes, but I can almost guarantee you they have not played the demo.

if they played the demo and said "i didn't like the demo, not buying', "demo had this wrong with it, don't like it" then sure make a post because it actually is a reason to not buy the game, some guy posting the negatives about the game, and the next post being some guy saying "i'm not buying the game" where that is like every 2 or 3 posts is useless.

It's a valid point and I made the post. Weird that you say you don't care but then care enough to spend the time to quote and post at length about how little you care though. You seem stressed about this which is odd.

Why would I spend money on a game that ea mails in the effort on year over year? To continue to not update things for 10 years is a fairly valid reason to not buy and no, I don't have to play the game to now know that again they didn't even update simple things like custom logos. EA introduces features only to remove them and then reintroduce (resell as a new "feature") years later. It's a really obvious and pathetic business plan for the longevity of the franchise.

This thread is called NHL 14 so I'm not sure how opinions on consumers desire to purchase the game or not is out of bounds given the broad nature of the topic. I fundamentally disagree that you have to play the game to have an opinion. That's like me saying you have to have bought the tshirt and wear it to be able to say it looks like a crappy shirt. On the contrary it looks like the same old BS game and that's my opinion and that's what this Internet forum is for. Luckily for you my opinion had zero impact on you or your life. You can choose to not read it, not respond to it and I struggle to see the hardship I have done to you or this thread by posting my opinion.

Just wanted to add that I am not buying this game either. Been suckered by EA one too many times and I'm done with their sports franchises.

I'm most likely not buying the game either. That's because I'm just too lazy to put in my custom music, where as in NHL '13 I have it all set up.

That, and I'm waiting until the PS4 comes out, and I'll start buying the games regularly again starting with NHL '15.

Is there anywhere where you can download the custom music packs anymore? I know for MLB The Show, it was pretty much shut down.

Ive been playing it a lot. The lobby format is great in the sense everyone gets to pick their position before launching the game. This avoids people backing out after teams are chosen.

The downside to this, is that unless you get a couple goalies quickly, you usually have to wait the full 3 mins in the lobby before launching. The team captains can ready-up if no one is neutral and all players on either team are ready, but you have to be quick as the game continues dumping dropin players until all positions are filled.

Overall, very much improved. Something I have been hoping they would do for a loooooong time.

I have heard people report that they lead their team in points or even led the league in points and the GM sent them down to the minors.

I get where you're coming from there. Pretty much any player who has shot the puck or delivered a dirty hit after the whistle has had to answer the bell in one way or the other. However, if a skilled player just happens to deliver a solid check to another skilled player it shouldn't automatically result in a fight. Or, at the very least, a bigger player should step in OR you should have the option to not fight.

It's those situations that are frustrating.

Just adding my name on.

The automatic hitting seems like a bother. I've got a pretty realistic offline Be a GM going (with low hitting rate due to how NHL 13 counts hits) and the enforcement and hitting adjustments don't interest me too much.

anyone find a good slider setting that stops the auto fights/makes them a lot more minimal?

It's annoying fighting in be a pro 3 times each game for delivering hits.. also 100 hits in 7 games may be a bit unrealistic...

I love it. Way better than '13 in my opinion. Hitting/fighting is much better. My biggest beef is with the Live the Life mode, my goalie let in 7 goals on 8 shots and I ragequit.

I am curious why it can't be purchased online at this point. Kind of annoying. I've been trying to resist buying it during the day, but then I get home and have a couple beers and change my mind to buy it.
