I think it's the right call. Tate is the better QB, and Glenn is the better option off the bench.
Huff is really in a no-win situation as far as criticism is concerned. Doesn't matter who he picked, if they lose to the Rider's he will get torn apart for his decision.

The Stamps are NOT winning the Grey Cup with Glenn at QB. They might win it with Tate, though. It's the right call.

I am not a big Glenn fan but if it wasn't for him, i am not even sure we would have make it so why not give him the start and when he is not producing after the 1st quarter or the half, pull him out and replace him with Drew Tate. I just hope this is not the Deja Vu from last season.
Anyways, I am not the coach and whoever start the game won't stop me from cheering for the Stamps on Sunday.

I think the play calling changes when Tate is at QB. I believe that if Tate was healthy the entire year, Cornish wouldn't have had as many rushing attempts. Tate has a better arm and therefore they choose to throw it more. Just my 2 cents.

I'm a Tate supporter but I was surprised he didn't go with Glenn. Didn't think Tate had enough to time to get ready for this game. Though he did play well enough against the Eskimos.
Tate only needs to beat the Roughriders to make the decision the correct one. With the Lions being the heavy favourites no one should be super disappointed if the Stamps lose to them.
I think the Stamps ability to win this game really comes down to how well Cornish can run the ball. They need to limit the turnovers as well, the Stamps always seem to have a lot of them during playoff games.

Well I am pretty surprised by this. I have not been a big supporter of either guy but thought that Glenn's conservative style worked better against the Riders who will need multiple turnovers to have a chance to win.
Hopefully Tate will play a little less on the edge than what he has shown in the past and the Stamps won't forget what got them 2nd place and make sure that Cornish is getting the ball.
As I said earlier either QB should be enough to win the game but this certainly will make it interesting if the Stamps lose and Tate struggles.

I like the idea of starting Tate. If Tate struggles I suspect that Hufnagel will take him out and insert Glenn into the lineup.

Cornish is the finalist for West Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Canadian. He's up against Chad Owens for MOP and Shea Emry for MOC.

I agree.
No doubt Tate has the better arm than Glenn. I don't have any problem with Tate I just feel bad for Kevin Glenn, that's all.

It seems Nik Lewis has already pissed off the Lions:
Cam Tucker @CamTucker_Metro
#BCLions have printed out copies of George Johnson/Calgary Herald story on Nik Lewis comments in each player's stall this morning
Here is the article:
http://www.calgaryherald.com/sports/...284/story.html
Quote:
“I know they were all in prayer meetin’ this morning, hoping Sask won,” chirped the Calgary Stampeders’ songbird slotback as the jubilation of Sunday’s heart-palpitating 36-30 West semifinal win over Saskatchewan continued unabated. “They were probably sittin’ around singing ‘Kumbaya’ when Sask scored there at the end of the game, thinking it was over.
“They don’t want to see us. Just like Sask didn’t want to see us.
“We know it’s gonna be a helluva game. Hey, it’s not SUPPOSED to be easy. They’ve got a lot of great players. But hey, so do we.”
|
Quote:
“You might as well go through the champs,” chimed in Lewis, off on one of those vastly entertaining rolls he gets on from time to time. “We don’t back down from nobody. The best thing is, we’re gonna be underdogs. Last few games, we were the favourites. We played Winnipeg, we were supposed to win. We played Hamilton, we were supposed to win. We play B.C., ‘Ah they’re not playing for nuthin’ . . .’ so we’re supposed to win. Against Edmonton last week, we’re supposed to win.
“Tonight, we were supposed to win, too.
“Next week, for a change, we’re not supposed to win. But guess what? We will.”

Not really much "locker room material" in that. It's not like he said 'we are way better, they are over rated, we'll kill them'. He said the Stamps will be the under dogs, which they will. He said the Lions would have prefered the Riders, which is very likely true (and from most reports is true - and why wouldn't it be? Who wouldn't want to face a 8-10 team instead of a 12-6 team). And ok I suppose he said "we'll win", but that's not exactly bulletin board material. I suspect every member of the Stamps is preparing and planning on winning. If they aren't, they should be off the team.

Well, if you don't think you're going to win the game, you've lost already. I don't have a problem with what Nik said (pretty tame in my opinion) and both teams are a game away from the Grey Cup. That should be motivation enough to put forward your best effort.

Didnt the Riders have a better record against B.C. than the Stamps? Not that it means much now.

Seems an overreaction by the Lions to rather average comments. Unless the media is trying to make this bigger than it really is.

Wow, i don't get that the Lions are pretty ticked off at Nik Lewis' comment. It's pretty accurate... i mean if BC are playing the Riders in the Semi, i am sure some of the Stamps' players will be ecstatic too when the Riders scored that late TD.
