Had friends who went to Nashville North with a 4+ hour wait. Insane...I would have bailed after an hour and went somewhere else to drink.
Then again...caught Tokyo Police Club (in the rain) and Hollerado tonight...worth getting wet.

A wise man once said that fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate and hate leads to the dark side. For the sake of your own soul, I suggest going out, eating a free pancake, petting a sheep, watching a native dance and taking a ride on the merry go round. You'll feel better about yourself.

You'll have to have a discussion with the mods about that, as I have no more power to change it than you do yours. I'm honestly surprised it has lasted this long myself, but if it offends you, clearly it is still working!

Well, eventually you get there. And when you do, you end up like TTC, but instead of having evil mind powers and the ability to shoot lightning bolts out of your fingers, you end up impotently angry at everything.
Such is the life that awaits you if you don't go Stampedin'!

Stampede haters reminded me of this cartoon for some reason, just substitute "Pokemon" for "Stampede".

Man, when was the last time the Stampede was never rained out for the whole 10 days? It's been a while now hasn't it? I pretty sure we've had some pretty hot summer's before this darn rain came along.

They should just embrace what it is and call it "Poor people get in free day!", amirite?

NN was so good on Saturday. I was there at 1pm and left around 1am. It was a great 12 hours of my buddies and I taking turns buying flats of bud. It's amazing how many people you meet and how much fun everyone is having.
Nothing beats Stampede time in this city.

Tried to give the Stampede a chance tonight. Went to Nashville North. Was disappointed to find that it is exactly what I always assumed it was... a stinking, puke filled tent that people drink inside of while listening to terrible music. The rides were as boring and dangerous looking as i remembered from when I went as a kid. Food tasted bad. Women weren't that attractive, probably would be different on the weekend. I think the carnies were probably the most enjoyable part of the whole night. To those of you who swear by the Stampede.... common, admit it, it ****ing sucks.

The talent varies on each day. Last year when me and my buddy went we hit up the Budweiser Big Rig beer gardens as the line-up was the shortest (still took over an hour and a half), Nashville North's line looked like 5 hours long, but for the talent, when we went it was pretty damn good, for us at least. We didn't get in until about 8:30 but the ladies were pretty damn fine, the group that we were playing Flip cup were anyway.
Sucks you didn't have a good time, I don't think I'll be going this year anyway.

No, it rained more days last year than not I believe.
I don't think the year before was very good either.

Hating Stampede has become a sort of unfortunate tradition in Calgary these days. I like the street culture that emerges for these 10 days, I like that a lot more Calgarians stay out past 9:00.
What irritates me is that Calgarians only do this for 10 days a year. After Stampede it's just back to business, and the Core dies again.
Personally, I try to enjoy the grounds, but it is incredibly boring unless you're wasted.

Living where we do it is always incredible to just watch the streets come alive around us. As Peter12 points out it is really unfortunate that Calgary isn't at that point (especially with population density) that we can see it in more than a few select areas (Kensington, 17th, 4th Street) outside of Stampede.

So much for the rain dampening spirits... 96,000 people through last night; overall increase of nearly 34,000 for the first half of the event.

Well you're 100% right there.
I have never understood why anyone would wait in line for 4 hours to get into Nashville North. There are so many better places, with hotter women that are nicer places to get drunk.
On a hot day it is a sweltering disgusting tent. So ghetto.

Nashville North does not do the Stampede justice. Grab some buddies and head to the tarmac for the chucks and the grandstand show (standing room up front). Its really social and kind of feels like a house party.
