Kevin Glenn won't see much time as long as Tate is healthy and doesn't put the ball on the turf for no reason what so ever.

Huge difference in Tate and Burris is that Tate is a leader, and he owns up to his mistakes. Burris was always defensive and talked about past accomplishments and would never own up to his blunders.

It's clear most of the players are behind Tate and like his leadership qualities. We won't have a deer in the headlights guy running the huddle, he will get on your ass. I've met stampeder players out and about, and many of them have said Burris is a frustrating guy to play with. Good guy, but he just doesn't have the intangibles to be a champion

Chris Bauman who was let go by Edmonton last week, has signed a two year deal with Calgary. Deal includes a signing bonus too.

The Calgary Stampeders bolstered their coaching ranks by announcing that defensive lineman DeVone Claybrooks has retired to become the club's defensive line coach.

“Moving into the coaching ranks is a natural progression in my career,” said Claybrooks. “My goal was to coach and to be able to stay in Calgary, so I'm obviously thrilled.”

Oh joy. Just what we needed - a high-priced receiver who couldn't catch a cold.

The Stamps are letting Burke Dales, Arjei Franklin and Tim O'Neil hit free agency:

So Bauman for Arjay...and I guess they will be going with one kicker next year? Maver to do both jobs, or he becomes the punter only?
Surprised O'Neil is gone though.

/doh
Guess I should have read the bloody article first...does seem like Maver will punt with Paredes placekicking, and Dewitt will take O'Neil's spot

We better be active in free agency and get some pass rushers.

I've always been a big fan of Dales. I'm sad to see him go. I'm curious about a Maver/Paredes combo. I was pretty impressed with what the latter brought last year. He was one of those unexpected, but pleasant, surprises.

Not sure what more you could want in a punter then what Dales brought? Good leg, accurate, tough, a non-import.

IMO, send Maver on his way and get something for him while he still has potential. If he's already lost his FG duties to Parades, and, from his 2010 year here, doesn't have a bigger leg anyways (notwithstanding the "I worked out, lost weight, so it means I can kick farther, and let me prove it to you...oops, guess not, I just popped my hamstring trying a 60 yarder in training camp and then told the coach game 1 that I was good to go, and lasted 1 extra point and cost the team a win" stunt he pulled last year) than Parades anyways.

I'm guessing not re-signing Dales was simply a cost-cutting move.

When we drafted Maver I believe he was a better punter than a placekicker. So now that we have Paredes, we can leave the punting to Maver and hopefully that will create a solid 1-2 at the kicking position.

That's because Burke Dales went on a free agency route doesn't mean Calgary is not planning on re-signing him. Maybe Dales just wants to test the free agency market and see how many are interested in signing him. We signed our own free agent players before.

Cant see why Dales would want to leave at this time of his family life and career

Last time he was a free agent he signed with Winnipeg. I forgot what happened after that, but he ended up here again.

The Stamps have released Joffrey Reynolds this morning to allow him to sign with another team:

http://www.stampeders.com/news_blogs/news/?id=4735
Quote:
“Despite our attempts to find Joffrey a new home, we were unable to complete a transaction,” said Hufnagel. “By releasing him now rather than waiting until later in the off-season, we wanted to make sure Joffrey had the best opportunity to sign with another team. We thank Joffrey for his years of excellent service to the Stampeders and wish him all the best.”

I'd gladly have him on the Bombers. Not sure he'd want to come to Winnipeg, though.

Joffrey was a great guy, I've met him. Humble and quiet.
