No, because if I am using the ethernet port on the XBOX the wireless capability is rendered useless. Has to be one or the other.

Same problem, I can't use the XBOX wireless capabilities while using the Ethernet port.

I doubt facebook integration is the killer app that will make people feel like Shaw is lagging behind.

I agree. Facebook on the TV is, to me, gimicky and not something I'll use even a little. Having said that, I'm an old-fart. I'd suspect 20 year olds will think it is cool, even if it will be one of those things that is used for a week or so and then ignored.
Additionally, being able to watch PVR on any box, setting same from the web or your smart phone, last five previous channels, a much better guide, being able to pause live TV anywhere, etc etc etc.... means that Shaw is lagging behind. Well behind.

This post confuses me. Hook your harddrive up to your laptop, and add it as a source for Connect360/PS3 Media server. How your Xbox is hooked up to the LAN is irrelavent- wireless and wired communicate?
If you can hook up to Xbox Live, then you are on your network.

I agree that Shaw is lagging behind. I guess I read your original post as you implying that facebook was a game-changer. Sorry.
Just last night I was wishing I had PVR anywhere so I could watch curling from bed.

Question for those Telus workers or advanced home users...
I was having trouble with the Telus hardware-
I have multiple wireless devices, a wired desktop and two TV boxes. I have the black modem and the silver d-link.
I couldn't figure out how to get my wired computer and wireless to share files (couldn't get them on the same network) so I got my own router (a d-link white)...
So I had the following set up: phone line into modem. Modem to switch. Switch to silver d-link (for tv boxes, since one is coax). Switch also to white d-link for computers and ps3/iphones/etc.
Everytime I would download torrents, my internet signal would drop out- but my TV signal would be fine. After phoning in about 10 times for help, finally it got escalated and the dude I spoke to told me that they only give you two IP addresses or something? Didn't make much sense...
But he advised that if I want to use the d-link white, to set it up as follows: phone line to modem. Modem to silver d-link. Silver d-link to d-link white. Silver d-link to tvs. Seems to be working fine thus far. IS it safe to daisy chain the routers in this way? I don't know why not, but I am not an expert...
Also- I've been watching recorded programs from my secondary tv box and every now an then it drops out and says to make sure all tv boxes are on the same network. WTF. This is a new issue since the latest software update (before facebook ap).

I know Im late to the party and should go back and read the entire thread but can someone give me a quick rundown of the big differences between Optik and BellTv? Bell is getting REALLY good a p***ing me off right now and Im looking for a change. I already use Telus for my home phone and internet so to look at Optik kind of makes sense.
Is there someone of somewhere I can call to see what kind of deals are available to bundle all 3 of my current services with Telus?

Telus Satellite TV is the same as Bell TV and is only available to people who don't qualify for any other Telus TV.
Telus Optik TV is something totally different and, according to the people on CP, far superior to Bell.

Agreed. I switched to Optik from Bell (I had the latest and greatest PVR at the time) and you couldn't pay me to go back. Optik is awesome.

Has anyone been able negotiate a sweet deal for first time customer.
I have decided I am moving to Telus for install date of May6 - I will need TV, Internet, and basic Home Phone.
Just wondering if the standard deal available on the website is it or if you can negotiate for something better. Thanks.

Is this the current PVR from futureshop any good?
http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...0gbhdpvrrec-en
Just wondering if this deal might be better than to sign a 3 year contract.
