I scored 32.

I found it funny that they asked the same question multiple times. Is that just to see if you were paying attention?

I cant remember the last time I even tried to remember a phone number, with speed dial so readily available, but I can remember most of the assigned and many of the dynamic IP addresses for my office's computers, does that count?

Yeah, I thought that was a strange question. I have a hard time remembering names, but my phone remembers any numbers perfectly.

Though, I'm sure it's just big corporation conspiracy to get more profits somehow.

one of the unfortunate ramifications of the anti-vaccine movement was the unfounded fears that the pertussis component of the old DTP vaccine caused neurological damage. The reality was that it caused mild redness at the injection site.

This "side effect" caused the makers to modify the vaccine. Previously, it was intact, but dead pertussis bacterium, which was very effective as an immunogen. The modified vaccine only uses surface proteins from the bacteria. This is not nearly as effective, and necessitates several booster shots. This has led to fewer individuals being fully immunized

Southern Alberta (Lethbridge area and south) is experiencing quite a few cases of whooping cough and about a week ago, an infant (Harper Whitehead) died in that area.

Honestly, the left needs to give its head just as much of a shake for the anti-vaccine movement as the religious right does for intelligent design.

The left?

Pretty sure this is a tea party "get your government needles out of my kid's arm" kind of thing.

This is not a left or right issue as I see it.

Don't think it's really either right or left that exclusively owns this stance. To your tea partier that doesn't trust any authority on anything right to the lefty view that anything that costs money must mean that "vaccine's are a conspiracy put on by evil corporations that want to steal your money"

I can say with certainty that politicizing everything and turning everything into a right/left debate is ruining our civility in politics, and in the world as a whole.

I've probably posted this before in this thread, but it is absolutely shocking that vaccines aren't mandatory.

Why don't we make red lights optional? Oh a couple people died - that's okay cause we are a FREE country!!!!111

That's kind of what I was getting at. C'mon, evman, you live in the same city as me. I'm sure you've met the same Fernwood "Big pharma is evil, do Raiki and homeopathy" crowd that I have.

I know what you mean, and I think everybody on this page is right - there's idiots across the spectrum.

Does anyone find it odd that a parent can lose their child because they are an overweight occasional pot user, or have their kids removed because their daughter drew a picture of a gun but someone who openly prevents their kids from getting a needle that could save their life and the lives of several other children is left alone.

Purely anecdotal, but I was talking to a nurse about this and she mentioned a local family whose eldest three children had whooping cough. They couldn't convince her to bring in her fourth child for the vaccine. That sounds criminal to me.
