Not a fan of either team (historically the Mets are dislikeable, and Padres have some arrogant batters), but I'm a little upset Scherzer was roughed up. I genuinely like his attitude at his age and dominance all these years.

They may never score in this game. 0-0 after 10.

That spike looked off on first. Looks like Tampa got jobbed on that one with a quick review and call out.

Rays are out! Gonzalez with a no doubter plus bat flip in the 15th.

And that's it. Quite the swagger on that walk off. If Toronto ever has to face either team, I'd take Cleveland, so that's good that the lesser team won (in my mind). Tampa always finds a way in the playoffs.

Yikes Tampa on the offence. 24 innings 1 run off a solo home run. 20ks todays. Their swing and miss caught up with them.

Padres looking good (and my second fav team) against a hapless Mets team, shame they have to play the I5/I405 series vs the Dodgers next.

The Pets are done. Who would have thought that it would largely be due to Scherzer faltering in the 2 most important games of their season...

Playing in Edwin Diaz with the trumpet, down 4-0 in an elimination game with two men on, is a lack of self awareness that few franchises have.
Unreal.
Gives up a single to Soto too, 6-0.

Padres fans dancing away while Mr. Met wails away and most Mets fans cringe.

To do it when they’re behind? Lol.

I don't mind the intro. It's something baseball has been missing.
Was there anything better than Enter Standman playing when Mariano Rivera took the mound? Or Hell's Bells started playing in Petco watching Trevor Hoffman come out?
However, doing the closer intro when down 4-0 is next level WTF?!
That's akin to a hockey team blasting the goal horn and playing the team goal song for an offside when down, 4-0.

I don’t see how a trumpet intro puts more pressure on him. Closer intros and batter walk up songs are nothing new. This one just took off in terms of popularity and recognition. Do you stop doing it when you’re losing? IDK who really cares. It’s just for the fans anyway.
