It’s been a long time since I attended a live curling event, even though I’m an avid watcher. It’s harder to follow any single game in the stands, but there is always something going on or a team throwing skip stones. It’s a bit overstimulating actually because there is no natural “intermission” when the 5th end breaks are all staggered.

But in both draws we attended, the televised games were not the best games. There were some great close games yesterday including Northern Ontario vs Saskatchewan and Yukon vs BC.

If you get the chance, I highly recommend you take in at least one draw this week.
It’s a fun time and you get a good sense of how good they actually are but yeah it can be tough to watch. You have to sort of decide to just pick a match you want to play close attention to and cast an eye to others when possible, or try to keep an eye on them all but like you said it can be difficult to follow them all.

Good to see the AB team pull it together late in that game and win easily.

Good test tomorrow against a feisty QC team. Win that one and almost guaranteed the playoffs.

They still get games against NFLD and BC as well as McCarville.

Impressive stuff from a rookie rink so far...hope they keep rolling.

Einarson looks like she has figured it out and is going well now too.

AB girls trailed NO 6-1 after 4 but have battled back to trail 7-6 playing 9. Sturmay will clinch playoff spot if they can come all the way back and win.

And wow! Steal of 3 for AB in 9th and they lead 9-7 playing last

Headed to extra end, Sturmay with last rock.

And a big win to clinch. Congrats to team AB

Top 3 make it, first tiebreaker head-to-head, 2nd tiebreaker last stone draw

Tonight will sort out a lot.

Einarson vs Lawes
St. George vs McCarville
Ackerman vs Brown

Chaos for sure....will be fun to watch it get sorted.

Did it ever come out why the Einarson lead was ruled ineligible?

AB loses to NFLD.

Team Canada wins and into the playoffs....Lawes all but done.

Sturmay needs a win tomorrow over a BC team (that is in with a win i believe), or an Einarson loss to win their pool.

Lots to be decided yet.

BC loses the head to head to NO

NO win and in
BC win and in with NO loss
NO and BC lose = chaos (Lawes has the best LSD)

Thanks for that.

Yeah its BC has to win and then get help. Thats a problem for them i think because McCarville and company seem to have really figured it out. though the Lawes group will poise a real challenge.

Wanted to go this afternoon but wont be able too. Unlikely the BC/AB game gets televised either with the NO/MAN game going at the same time.

Not as fun in the other group, however if Manitoba-Cameron wins twice today, against Smith and Granby, they're in.

Tall order considering they are down to 3 players due to illness.

I don't understand why teams don't bring an alternate or a coach/alternate to these events.

Imagine if Einarson hadn't had Karwacki?

Alternatively think about how Gushue and co had to win the Brier with a 3 man team.

Most do. The Cameron team does have an alternate, two players are sick.
