Kaeden Korczak signs for 13M over four years despite not being an NHL regular at 24 1/2.

The NHL landscape has certainly changed.

He didn't give the player all the leverage, that's not exactly the issue. It's a timing and expectation issue IMO. We've whipped up the crowd to expect a massive return because of one year at dirt cheap plus a long term extension, how exciting right? The possibilities seem endless. Unfortunately now the reality appears to be thst that ship has sailed. If Anderson did play the Vegas only card after leading Conroy along saying he'd consider contenders yeah that's a bit skeevy on his part but thems the breaks.

Now the return is looking more like single season rental prices which of course will be significantly lower and possibly leaving us with nothing due to the additional risk of having to play him clear until the TDL next season. Did Conroy muff it by not trading him last year before an extension was an option? It's quite possible but can't change the past now.

Rampant fan expectations for a return of gold and myrrh seem to be what's driving most of the panic and anger here. It's our own fault for buying into it in the first place. Member when it was gonna be Mercer and a top 10 pick for Markstrom? Yeah it's that again. So hopefully Rasmus gets traded for something decent soon and we all go home happy. If he's still on the roster to start the season holy guacamole are the takes going to reach surface of the sun white hot. Can't wait.

Rasmus is still signed for a year. The Flames only have right to trade that one year of service away. They can't force him to sign an 8 year extension in a place that he doesn't want to be in. 9 years in Buffalo? I wouldn't agree to that.

Like you said, it's not extra leverage Andersson is getting. Conroy is exploring a trade of Rasmus in both a 1 year and with an extension in place scenario, as he should. With the extension, Rasmus retains more control, as he would if he were to hit UFA status.

Yeah, that's what happened. lol.

I’d wager it’s as dead as can be.
Still no return rumours, though I too am dying to understand what the massive deal was all about.

I've been told it was gold AND myrrh

Be honest, you left out Frankincense as you were unsure of the spelling. Yes...I had to look it up myself to be sure.

That deal would make no frankincense for the Flames.

Too bad they got rid of compensation if a player re-signed with a team

We could've pulled the trigger on that LA trade

I literally had to copy and paste myrrh from the post above. What kind of word is that. Buy a vowel.

All media reports were that Canucks tried. No numbers but I can't imagine it wasn't similar to the St. Louis contract. Suter just wasn't interested in returning to that room.

Report I saw said Suter liked Vancouver just fine but they couldn't get to 4 mil.
