It’s hard to comprehend Steeler fans feeling salty. The most successful franchise in the Superbowl era. How many winning seasons in a row now?

It's nice to not suck but people aren't exactly jumping out of their seats for 9-8 or 10-7 seasons followed by one-and-done in the playoffs.

Well things could be much, much worse and it seems like Steelers fans are keen to join Jets, Raiders, Browns, Panthers, and Jaguars fans because if they fire Tomlin that's where they will be heading for possibly a long time and it's a hard place to get out of and it's also much, much less fun that 9-8 and 10-7 seasons every year.

A monumental day: Top target Aaron Glenn visits the Jets & the goal is to keep him from leaving the building, sources say.

The deal isn’t done & there are still some particulars to discuss. But if all goes well, he could end today as HC of the NYJ. If not, the Saints await.

What is a comparable city in Canada to Kansas City. Always felt they are a small market team able to keep all these top players due to the cap.

At some point, Tomlin is going to leave on his own accord. I can't imagine he's been thrilled with management/ownership the last couple of years.

Steelers are another case where the nepo babies took the team over and turned them into a middling franchise.

I find it surprising that people on a Flames board are surprised that Steelers fans are unhappy. The mushy middle is not desirable, neither in the NHL nor the NFL. Ultimately, Tomlin not having a losing season means jack#### when you're treading water. They are not bad enough to draft a starter high in the draft, but they sure as #### are not good enough to win a playoff game either. At some point, things need to change.

Sure things need to change. The Steelers need a QB better than Rudolph, Pickett, Trubisky, Fields or Wilson. That's a list of junk and an organizational failing to support the head coach. Steelers have had more success in Tomlin's tenure than the Flames have had since winning the cup in 1989. I fully understand that the mushy middle is not desirable compared to winning championships but would you trade decades with Bears fans just so you can have Caleb Williams? Browns were 0-16 less than a decade ago and they still have no QB. At least Steelers fans can bank on all 17 games mattering, every season. Try going a decade of seasons being over by the 10 game mark and all of a sudden the mushy middle doesn't sound too bad. Be careful what you wish for.

But this is where Tomlin should have used his goodwill in the bank after Big Rape retired and tanked one season to actually get a QB. Look at where they are now, their options are bring back Russ, bring back Fields, sign Darnold, severely overpay to move up in a weak QB draft, or reach for a QB in a weak QB draft in their current spot. Thats ####ing grim.

obviously. But do you think a seasoned HC like Mike Tomlin has no say in personnel decisions? It's not like management decides these things without his input. He is heavily involved in the draft process and basically all roster moves, so absolving him of that makes no sense. Heck, he basically still runs the defense, even though there's a DC in name.

I'm not taking anything away from his coaching career. Heck of a run, no doubt. But in my opinion, it has run its course. The Steelers and Tomlin himself obviously disagree, so it is what it is.

Steelers just need a top QB and the problem is picking top 3 doesn't guarantee a good one anyways, you might get one, or you might end up in the Jets, Raiders, Browns, Panthers, and Jaguars purgatory of trying to pick a new QB every 3 years.

Guys like Love, Hurts, Lamar were taken in the late 1st / 2nd round. Lots of good QBs taken in the 10-15 range historically too.

If I were them I'm more curious if somebody like Milroe/Ewers/Howard could be available to them on Day 2 (or maybe even Milroe at 21).

Firing Tomlin to try to tank and get a QB with a top 5 pick feels like it would backfire for sure.

The Steelers could also do the thing I've suggested before for a QB needy team: Use every single draft pick on QBs. If you draft 7-10 of them, surely one will be a quality starter.

But how are you going to develop them ? You don’t have 7 offensive lineups to practice with

You usually don’t know who the good one is for a few years

So small market US, but most of the teams feel that way.

I think Tomlin coaches two more years to get to 20 seasons. Than he will consider retiring. Knoll and Cowher never coached after finishing up in Pittsburgh and they'll try to do the same with Tomlin.

Thats what mini camp and rookie camp are for. Narrow it down. But if you're desperate for a QB might as well maximize your lottery balls.

It's how the Commies wound up with Cousins. Granted they only took 2 but it worked
