I've fallen into a rabbit hole reading some of my doctors' ratemymd reviews. Man, people are just brutal.

I don't believe in leaving anonymous reviews, and on the whole I think they're quite unhelpful - but they do have me worried about a doctor I'm about to meet for the first time.

I've read all the reviews before going to see docs, and never experience what I read. Not to say they may not have had an off day with these reviewers, but just remember you are reading the worst of the worst. But if you do notice a pattern like "ignored my concerns" or "arrogant" or whatever, you can prepare yourself for that personality type.

My doctor has a review on Google from a very unbalanced person who doesn't understand how their insurance works and decided to write three paragraphs blaming the doc for everything under the sun. Online reviews of actual people, doctors, teachers... is such a stupid and problematic idea.

I talked to a doctor about this and they thought it was pretty unfair. Like someone reviews you and puts specifics in there so the doctor knows he left that review and it’s not really what happened. And the doctor can’t really respond because it’s got to be confidential.

My wife's notice of assessment came and mine didn't, is that normal? We filled out at exact same time with same accountant and this is first time that's happened I believe. Anyone know if this is normal?

My mail man also has a habit of putting wrong mail in my box...

It could be a million different things. Have you checked your CRA account? You could have applied for a Credit that requires more checking, you could have been selected for review, your accountant could have forgotten to file yours. It could be anything.

Wait a week, or check your CRA account and then either call CRA or your accountant.

I can't get into my CRA account. I'm gonna call my accountant tomorrow and see what happened.

Like I said. I cannot say for sure. A thousand different things could have happened.

But, strictly speaking, each taxpayer's Notice of Assessment is theirs and comes to them individually. They do not 'come together.'

Reviews like that are tough. On top of the fact that reviewers could be suffering mental issues or even physical issues that cannot be helped, etc. the knowledge imbalance is so high between a doctor and a patient that you can't help but question what actually happened.

I struggle with the same issue in my field. I have been in positions where my job relies on google reviews and high ratings for SEOs and other benefits. I would say 1% of happy clients will write a review (and only after asking them to) whereas 100% of unhappy clients will write a review - even when the reason for being unhappy had nothing to do with my work, etc.

The hardest part is usually tempering expectations and misconceptions. Then, explaining very difficult or complex issues to someone without the knowledge background.

Finally, you just sometimes deal with crazies. There is nothing you can do and of course they will take it out on you.

If you have a MyAlberta account, you can log into your CRA account from there - choose the "provincial partner" option or whatever it's called. I had issues getting into mine, then I tried this method & it worked. It's the only way I can access my CRA account, trying to go through just the CRA login never works.
