Steelers now up 17-10 on the Jets. Could be the third straight loss for the Jets and with a game in Chicago, and the plucky Bills to go on their schedule. They could end up in a must win game to close out the season again.
Wouldn't break my heart if the Jets end up at 9-7...anything to give the Chiefs better odds to get into the playoffs.

How is running out the clock a case of showboating? Jackson probably wasn't aware that time was already expired and thought he had to waste a couple extra seconds.
|
Considering he was waving the ball in the air at the 10 yard line and he has a history for showboating on touchdowns, I think it was a pretty fair assumption.

The only difference is Jackson's reputation. Stokley's play was a "smart football play"...

Well as of right now it looks like every NFC West team is going to lose this week, and every team will have at least 8 losses after this week. It is looking like 7-9 is going to be the winning record in that Divison.
Oddly enough it looks like the Cardinals may be the only last place team in their Division going into today who didn't win their game.

It's so sad that I celebrate every successful Nick Folk field goal as if the Jets had just won a playoff game. I miss Jay Feely.

So the Jets just need one more win to clinch a playoff spot. I'm hoping it comes against Chicago next week.

Jets pretty much punch their playoff ticket with this win. Good finish to this game.

Big props to Schottenheimer on this win. I hope he keeps to this gameplan the rest of the year. Didn't abandon the run even against the top run D in the league. Didn't make Sanchez throw long too often. I still don't think he's that great of a coordinator, but he is learning from his mistakes.

Well I think we can pretty much say 5/6 AFC playoff teams and 4/6 of the NFC teams are set.

NFC West went as expected. That said Seattle had a good first half, and gave up a late touchdown which was horrible coverage.
That said, the playcalling was poor...they went down the field on the first drive using about 8 swing passes. Next drive (in the second quarter, only 1 drive per team in first quarter) they try the same thing, Atlanta like any useful team, adapting. Next Seattle series they try long passes.
Hasslebeck janked after throwing 2 interceptions and a fumble in endzone early in first drive of 3rd quarter. Finally!!!
Whitehurst more yards in 3/4 of 1 quarter the Hasslebeck. Far more poise, far more mobility. Chants of Charlie Charlie come out, and there's a shot of Hasslebeck shaking his head. Boo hoo.
Lot of talk already if this is the end of Hasslebeck. Still two games to go and still a chance to win and get into the playoffs.

He might not be the best player or QB but he will out work you and the rest of your team every play no matter what.
The kid played a high school game with a broken leg, He played 3 college games with a broken wrist, then also played with a separated shoulder. This kid is tough as nails.
I scoffed at his throwing motion because it's not that big of a deal. Phillip Rivers has a bad motion but no one complains about him. Or "he doesn't play under center" Well have you watched a Colts game lately? Payton is never under center as well as most of the teams majority of the snaps are in the shotgun.
He will be fine if he can learn how to read a defense.

A run isn't that bad of a call, but a draw?

Raiders are 5-0 in the AFC West. No double digits loss this year with a good shot at finishing .500 and a slim slim shot of the playoffs. Pretty good turnaround.
Denver is horrible. Despite 3 turnovers by the Raiders, the still couldn't do much. Tebow had one very nice run, but he's got the typical rushing QB mentality - if the first look isn't there, take off with your legs. I'm still suspect. Big heart sort of player, but that only takes you so far. If the Broncos commit to him in the offseason as the starting QB, he may have a shot of being an average QB.

I've never really understood why "throwing motion" is such an issue. Get the ball to the receivers. Even if he throws underhand, does it even matter?

Rivers had no questions about his arm after coming out of college, because he played in a pro style offense and came out of college #2 all time in passing yards. Tebow threw for a little over half of what Rivers did in a very non-pro offense. Just because two qbs have bad motions doesn't mean they are equal in ability to make throws. There's tons of qbs that have bad motions and aren't good. Tebow could be either/or, as it really doesn't matter what those before him have done.
