This F. Cerundolo - Karatsev match in Hamburg, sheesh....What an absolute mugfest/gagfest.
And Cerundolo looked so good in defeating Angrey Rublev too.

That's gotta hurt like a nutpunch for Karatsev. Aslan the better player for the vast part of the 2nd half of the match and Cerundolo nowhere near his best and seriously down on energy for about 70% + of the match.
Aslan still can't squeeze out the W here.

Also, Dominic Thiem won earlier today in Switzerland and it sets up a blockbuster match versus Matteo Berrettini on Saturday.

nice, but also dammit, this is probably going to severely reduce the motivation for them to Voltron together in Vancouver next year, especially since it's so far from home.
rest in peace Team World. just try to enjoy the complementary buffet, Felix/Shapo/Taylor/Nick.

The funny thing (if you have a sick sense of humour that is) is that it's not going to get much easier for Team World going forward. I mean, the 'B" team of Medvedev, Zverev, Ruud, and Alcaraz are likely going to keep the winning streak alive.

Speaking of Charlie, he's about to deliver a German bagel to Khachanov in Hamburg.
Edit: Der Bagel ist geliefert (delivered)

Djokovic might still not be allowed in Canada next year and Federer might be retired. Nadal could be the only one of the big 3 attending in Vancouver. I don't see Team World winning until at least 2030.
A women's version would be far more balanced.....Steffi Graf or Serena Williams Cup?

You gotta feel for Khachanov, he played a fine set 2 and yet Charlie still dusted him 6-2.

It's amazing to me that he's ascended into the top 10 so quickly and how's this for a stat, he's 31-0 in 2022 when he wins the first set.

IMO he's the #2 favorite to win the US Open after Medvedev and just ahead of Nadal.

Thiem's run is halted by Berrettini 6-1 6-4. It will be Ruud vs. Berrettini for all the marbles in Switzerland.

As of this moment, I wouldn't bet against it. The only worrying sign might be injury, he's had the right arm/shoulder wrapped up a couple of times already, you'd hate to see a situation where he blows out his arm.

Oh man, scenes in Hamburg, Carlitos robbed by the chair umpire as he hit a drop shot winner that bounced twice before Musetti got it (Musetti serving for the match at 5-4 in set 2). The Italian had two match points at 40-15, but Alcaraz rallies to break and then does the Djoker finger to the ear. We play on.

Okay, so the second set tie-break recap - Alcaraz up 3-1, Musetti wins five straight points to go up 6-3, Carlitos takes set 2 8-6 to force a 3rd set and has saved five championship points. I fully expect either a bagel or breadstick to be delivered to the Italian now.
