Other than Bouw, who was saying that, Vulcan?
I was wondering where you got off to. The only thing that was missing since Troutman pulled this thread back up was your petty hatred of Bettman.

Dude, don't even start. Your buttons are so easy to push, one doesn't even need to be talking about you in order to push them.

BTW, I like how, as usual, you are attempting to deflect the argument rather than back up your latest wild assertion.

What argument? The facts are a slam dunk. New ownership isn't making much of a difference in the desert.
I never named names, but it's telling that you replied with your usual personal attack.

I've honestly been under impressed overall by the new ownership's efforts. The ad campaign is actually pretty weak in my opinion. The first Ad with Doan was great but now it's more of the same.
Too much pleading to Canadians, not enough local efforts in my opinion. I'm not seeing really any local youth hockey initiatives or having players out to the rinks across town for autograph signings. ect. ect..
With that said, they took ownership in late summer and didn't have much time to prepare. New name next year, full summer of planning.. I'm hoping to see a bigger presence overall.
With that said, I'm seeing billboard ads multiple times daily which is good.

Why would they even bother locally? That market has shown it, in a large part, doesn't care.
I don't see a new clever ad getting people to a sports event where ridiculously cheap tickets and almost 20 years in the area haven't got them there.

Multiple times daily? You mean... once in the morning, and once in the afternoon... say before and after work?
... are you driving down the same street, by chance?
Joking aside, has it been confirmed what the team is going to be renamed to? Arizona Coyotes?

You don't really read a pissing war so much as you judge distance.

Revenue from Coyotes less than expected for Glendale
http://www.azcentral.com/community/g...-glendale.html
City leaders expected to see at least $6.8 million in revenue annually from the team to help offset the $15 million the city pays each year for team owners to manage Jobing.com Arena. The revenue comes from ticket surcharges, parking fees and a split of naming rights for the arena.
Halfway through the fiscal year, the city has collected $1.9 million from those sources, and nearly $2.3 million when including sales-tax revenue from the arena.
The shortfall largely stems from lagging parking revenue. Team owners implemented a $10 to $30 parking fee for the first time this season, but many fans apparently found other options.
Anthony LeBlanc, president and CEO of the IceArizona ownership group, blamed it on the Arizona Cardinals opening parking lots around neighboring University of Phoenix Stadium during arena events.
The effect has been a “bleeding” of city revenue, LeBlanc said.
If, at the end of the year, Glendale makes less than $9 million from the arena, the city can draw from another revenue source — a $1.50 surcharge on tickets. For now, that money sits in an escrow account maintained by the team. It’s unclear if enough money would be in the account to fully cover a shortfall.
“It looks like we might want it,” said Councilman Ian Hugh, who voted against the deal.
Hugh noted there were no guarantees the city would see the revenue projected by the team owners. “We hope they’re good for their word, but that’s all we have,” Hugh said.

If they're averaging 13000 a game they're looking at $799,500 for that surcharge money for a full season.
That council deserves what they get. They looked at the financials with Rose coloured glasses over top of rose coloured contacts.

There must be something in the water for that team to still exist there. Or, it may have had something to do with those weird lights in 1997. Time to start making some logical connections here.

Wow, that certainly doesn't sound like enough to make up the shortfall. It must be $1.50 off paid tickets, so it must be closer to 0.5M total.

The city council was always in over their heads.

Imagine that... slick MBA types missed on their revenue projections and the city is suffering... who could have predicted THAT?

The best deal Glendale had was when Balsillie offered them $50M.
