That particular Spence one is a real head scratcher because they don't even advertise anything. Like if you weren't from Calgary and just turned it on you'd have no idea what they were even selling, it's a random African geography lesson with some old Scottish lady and two dorky-sounding dudes, then they start talking about Michael and Sarah and it's over. And it's been runninf for weeks.

Radio stations know people switch stations when an annoying ad comes on don’t they? Do other advertisers have to pay extra to air before a Spence Diamonds ad? The stations probably all collude with each other to play Spence ads, so other advertisers have no choice but to pay a pre-Spence admin fee, less they suffer from the post-Spence decline in listeners.

Yeah, definitely. But I know I am changing the station until I get bored of whatever I changed it to, so it’s not like I change it for a bit and go back when I think the ad is over. I can’t imagine I am the only one that does it.
