Quinn Hughes got 6.5?
Bouchard is the same age and just put up the same playoffs he did if we factor in inflation I think a 7.5-8 million per season deal is fair on a 6-7 year deal.

Ha, he's awful. If it comes in anything like that, it's a Nurse level disaster. Dude is a young Dennis Wideman playing on a hot pp unit.

Yup and thats exactly why Edmonton should lock him to that type of deal, you can't let a player like this get away.

He laughs and walks out the door if the offer starts with a 4, or even a 5.
Then they are left to sign 5 forwards to fill out a roster with ZERO cap space, so they will have to trade away players to save cap space.
Who can they get a significant amount for? I’m not sure anyone, unless they want to move Drai or something.

Is he eligible for a an RFA offer sheet? If so, I could see a team going that route.

He's cranky and stubborn but Sutter is no dope. No way he takes the job. The unofficial role is babysitter to the twins. Waiting to get them angry and lose your job. You take it if you need money or exposure. Sutter requires neither.
I can't see them ever bringing in well respected coach.

The wonder twins are now damaged goods.

Bouchard is eligible to sign an offer sheet. He is NOT eligible to go for arbitration.

He played 31+ minutes last night
Ekholm 24
Nurse 19
Kulak 17
Desharnais and Ceci 12
Offer sheet at 4.1 costs a second only
Anyone in Buffalo remember, or Anaheim?
Going to cost the Oilers more than 5, hopefully.
3 offer sheets sounds just right, actually

Honestly, why Oilers need a coach anyway.
It's the time bring back Player & Coach Culture for this team.
McReferee the Head coach/Captain player & Draipissy the Assistant coach/Assistant.
They need just a time keeper behind the bench.

My guess is that Bouchard asks for something in the $6s, and Edmonton offers something in the $4s. I am hoping he inks something in the $5s (obviously, $6s would be even better).
Regardless, it is going to be a difficult off-season for Holland, as the Oilers are going to have to move out another player, something they were overly reluctant to do last year until it was basically too late.
They will need to trade one of: Yamamoto, Foegele, Ceci or Kulak. And even then, it is going to be very tight. Oiler fans talked all year about how they finally had depth and a decent bottom 6. Well guess what boys? You're back to having no bottom 6 whatsoever!

That Nurse contract looked bad the moment it was signed but it just keeps looking worse and worse. It seemed like Nurse was on the ice for nearly every goal against last night.

I'm not getting my hopes up with the oilers supposed "cap crunch" this off season.
I've watched way too many teams weasel they way out of contracts that should have handcuffs them and LTIR their way to cap relief over the years to take the NHL salary cap seriously anymore.

He only has one move. Ragdoll in front of the net and hope the puck hits him.

Hughes got 7.825 million a year. He was paid 6.5 this year but his cap hit is 7.825. Seems like a good number for a Bouch Bomb.
