and here's some of the juicier nuggets:

The Oilers moved nine points ahead of the Flames in the standings and will not be caught by their rivals this season. In the bigger picture, Edmonton is where Calgary was supposed to be by now, well on their way to being a top-10 National Hockey League team with an long and bright future.

and

Calgary’s a wild card team at best now, while the Oilers are well in contention for the Pacific Division lead.

It’s a big change in Alberta, and it won’t be changing back soon.

I mean I have never gone on any Oilers forum or board, and if I did I wouldn't bitch about seeing a Flames are no good thread. The winning streak the Flames have put together is really iritating them, as it takes away from all the glorifying Oil coverage they have been getting all season. They love getting sunshine blown up their asses and when they see something that doesn't they will throw a hissy fit. This is why that HF thread is filled with Oil posters even though the thread had absolutely nothing to do with their team.

November 14th Oilers 9-6-1 (19pts) and since have gone 26-16-7 (59pts)
November 14th Flames 5-10-1 (11pts) and since have gone 31-16-3 (65pts)

The last 50 games (49 for the Oil) Calgary has been the better team. Edmonton got a lift from the new building and a heavy home schedule and the Flames struggled to adjust to a new coach and their 2 leading scorers missing training camp

Just beware of overconfidence. We saw it back in November when Johnson was on a hot streak and we all saw how the wheels fall off shortly thereafter. Just because Calgary has won seven in a row doesn't mean they can't lose the next seven.

But this may be the wrong thread to be bringing this up, probably best to talk about it elsewhere.

I don't think anyone here is over confident, just pointing out the overconfidence of the entire Oilers fan base after a decent but not that amazing first 65 games. You would think the Oilers were sitting first in the league by how their fans and their media discuss their team.

In fairness, the Oilers haven't lost a playoff game in a decade.

I think they forget that they have yet to play us where we didn't dress Grossman and/or Wideman.

In the first place, overconfidence isn't really something that fans need to worry about at all. I expect the players to have a firm grip on the reality of their situation, and that is all that matters. Second, there is a chasm of difference between the Flames current winning streak, and the streak they were on in Nov/Dec, which was on the back of a string of really good goaltending performances.

I completely disagree with the bolded sentence: the way the Flames are playing there is no way they can lose their next seven games. There will yet be losses along the way, and the team will probably experience a slippage of sorts, but they deserve credit for being a damn good team who is playing some damn impressive hockey.

The November streak was entirely on the back of special teams and Johnson posting .920+ for a string of consecutive games. This streak is due to a lot more factors. That's encouraging.

What a complete tool. Nothing but a cheerleading article. A thought the dig on Lemelin was uncalled for. He was a very good goalie. He played for Canada in the Canada Cup, was an NHL all star, won the Jennings trophy. He'd easily be the Flames third best goalie of all time.

Nah... if he has the "opposite" hubris voodoo, he needs to write some nonsense baloney about how the Oilers would welcome the Flames in a 1st round Battle of Alberta, how they will easy peasy sweep us in 4 games totally like the way they did in the regular season, how the Flames are a mere skipping stone on the Oilers Most Glorious Connor McDavid's way of winning a Cup in their new shiny arena.

That should be enough to do the trick.
