All I know at this point is that if Royle and/or Sec break an Andersson trade in here the most common & immediate responses will be something along the lines of "What about Kadri? Are we trading Kadri? Have you heard anything on Kadri? I think they should move Kadri"

Feels like the Flames were trying to get a young LD, and went back to Hanley after missing on Hague and Miller.

Raz for Necas, that’s interesting. Would the Flames have to add? Seems close value to me minus the age gap.
Necas seems like a flight risk but, certainly, a flipable asset if he does want to test the market/wont extend.

So it must have been multiple first round picks if it was a “whopper” of a deal. Meg e something like 2026 1st round pick + 2027 1st round pick + 2026 2nd round pick?

I mean, one man's whopper is another's mcsingle so who knows. I'm less enthused now that it comes out as all picks as I had been deluding myself into thinking a decent player was in the mix.

Yikes I'm scared what Conroy was offering for Miller. He's not worth what the Rangers paid, let alone the premium a Flames management must have been offering

Why scared? Obviously it wasn't as good as what Carolina gave them.

I suppose it could have been a ton of extra picks and only a single first round pick. Just thinking what would have been considered a “whopper” of an offer. 1st + 2nd + 3rd for an extended Andersson would not have been a “whopper” by pretty much any standard. They could likely get that at the TDL for Andersson as a rental. So something like these would qualify as “whoppers” to me where no players are coming back:
A) 2026 1st + 2027 1st + 2026 2nd
B) 2026 1st + 2026 2nd + 2026 3rd + 2027 2nd + 2027 3rd

He sat out Canada Day yesterday.
He's looking to make an asset management move with Andersson.
Are they hearing "if you're in it and we don't have UFAs expiring I'll let you see it through, but I'm not adding any contracts that don't fit our future window, and we are in asset management mode"?
You hear about Kadri wanting to stay and believing in the direction, but at his age how can that be so with the evidence leaning more torwards retool/rebuild then going for it?
Even a belief in a pivot this summer after just missing the playoffs last year would bring some hope to veteran players, but then doing nothing yesterday and clearly moving Andersson means a step back.
|
if Ras is replaced by Byram without giving up too much (pipe dream) then maybe the players aren't too concerned.

I try to build my trades on the lower end so I'd say 1 for 1, Necas for Andersson. Both teams take the risk of no extension while both players make sense for each teams vacancies.
There's an opportunity in Calgary for Necas to absolutely eran a top 6 center role . And if he doesn't and doesn't like the situation, he's just a deadline flip.
It is a trade though contingent on other dominoes falling . Flames landing Byram and Ehlers signing in Colorado.
