Have to believe the Canucks would be all over this. Big centre with skill, size and toughness from Vancouver. They might have the assets to pull it off too. Maybe a McCann and Boeser package?

Sign Lucic in the summer and you are looking at a very big and nasty top 6 for the Canucks in the future: Johanssen, Lucic, Horvat, Virtanen. With that kind of size, Baertschi and Shinkaruk might even be afforded top 6 winger roles.

LOL

The conversation starts with Tanev + Horvat. they're not gift wrapping a #1C with size for those pieces.

Agreed. I think they add their first or Virtanen/McCann and it is a fair deal

I don't know if Virtanen is going to knock the socks off any GM in trade discussions. Not saying he's a bust but I'm pretty sure the Canucks would like a do-over on that first round as they passed on a few players that look like clearly better prospects as McCann despite being picked later looks like the much better prospect.

Fair enough. My point is the Canucks likely have to give up their 2 best young assets in Tanev and Horvat in addition to another good asset being a 2016 1st, McCann or Virtanen

Johansen is big, but he is far from nasty. Very soft player from what I've seen.

Nobody's gonna confuse him with a 4th line goon, but he hits more often, and harder, than anyone in the Flames top 6.

He's lazy though and IMO that's one of the biggest red flags a player can have. Some people can be gifted with all the skills and lack the desire and while he's young enough to change it's not a given that he will ever live to his potential. I've never been a proponent of teams having success with players like Phil Kessell and this guy sounds like another Kessell.

Weren't the Pens interested in Kris Russell at last year's trade deadline?

What's the deal with Pouliot? I thought he would be that guy by now.

Roger Millions tweeted that they had scouted him but weren't impressed. We know they eventually traded Despres for Lovejoy so that's a guess at the perceived value of Kris Russell. Slightly worse than Ben Lovejoy.

Slava Malamud @SlavaMalamud
Alex Radulov has rejected CSKA's extension offers and is determined to become a free agent. Another NHL comeback is a distinct possibility.

It's been rumored Roy has been recruiting Radulov. Good bet he signs with the Avs when he's allowed to.

He's a good kid from TBay and he's never played on Hockey Night in Canada during the regular season. Good bet he signs with a Canadian team or a hockey hungry US team.
