I think ski and snowboard cross are my new favourite Olympic events. They make excellent spectator sports -- so exciting!

I think I like them because Canada always has contenders in them both. And we've won how many medals from them? Great events

I didn't get to see this run unfortunately, but I did watch the Men's Ski Cross this weekend and i'm in full agreement. It was awesome to watch. Hopefully I can catch some of the Ladies later tonight.

Can't wait for the reports from Austria, they will be fuming, I think the last time they didn't medal in alpine skiing was the 30's (according to Dobson).

I want to give props to Erik Guay. He is not a GS specialist, started 44th first run and finished 29th, ended up having the second fastest 2nd run just behind the Norwegian who finishd 2nd.

He was barely off the podium twice in these olympics, and once in Turin (super-G finished 4th).

What place did he end up after 2 runs (I'm too lazy to look up), is that the 29th your talking about cause I thought only the top 30 got to run the 2nd run?

Austria took Gold in the Ladie's Super-G and Bronze in the Ladie's Downhill, or were you just talking about Men's?

The Austrian press has been all over the skiiers so far, I imagine it won't be a joyous homecoming.

He was 29th after the first run and ended up 16th after the 2nd run.

^^ Edit, 16th. He was 29th after first run so he started second run with a fresh course, but still hugely impressive time considering the field.

In normal world cup only the top 30 ski the second run (since outside that is near zero chance of meaningful finish), but in olympics every skis both runs, in this race there were 104 racers including dudes from India posting +30sec finishes on first run, kind of funny, but they were pumped to be there. Personally I think it makes more sense to have a FIS points requriement and let 5 people from the top countries compete instead of randoms who have no business being there.

And that stat I believe was for men's alpine events? I didn't look it up, just what Stemle and Dobson said on TV.

Jesus H. Christ. Is anyone watching Farhan Lalji (sp?) doing the pre-game for women's bobsleigh?

WHo the hell is that irritating woman with red hair? Her voice alone makes me want to kill myself.
