Yeah it's hard to see Novak losing if he gets through, especially since he should handle Nishikori and not need a marathon to win. This is gonna be a four to five hour slugfest, although that choke by DelPo could hurt mentally.

Oh Delpo, you had the first set on your racket and blasted it wide. Back on serve again.

Yeah I'm gonna revise to straight sets for Rafa if he wins the set now. DelPo isn't gonna be able to recover from that.

Good recovery from DelPo. 70 minute first set, in some ways for DelPo he just needs to grind Nadal down, can't imagine Nadal has the legs for another five hour match.

Del Potro wins the first set in a tiebreak... this is quite a grind.

Delpo takes the first set in a tie-breaker. He needed that one badly after losing his chance serving at 5-4 about 20 minutes ago.

nobody comes up with clutch breaks when they're about to lose a set like Rafa. many times the guy serving for the set looks bad, but they get pressured into all those mistakes.

difference today though is that Delpo will probably lock down those tiebreakers where Karen and Thiem wilted. the USO organizers are actually pretty sneaky, at first I assumed they handed Rafa another creampuff draw but it looks like they had a lineup of big bangers waiting to each extract a chunk out of him.

Delpo might be just too strong today, but hopefully Nadal can mount another comeback win, but its going to be tough.

Tape has been put on, ripped off, and re-applied - I'm going for cause for concern.

Yeah, Rafa isn't moving as well as he was even in the first set. Clearly there is an issue with that knee.

It's funny because Jack talked about Roger not having a plan B, which is true. But right now Nadal needs to play for quick points, which is something he doesn't really know how to do.

Nadal said he's gonna retire, although I guess he's waiting till the end of the second set? Not sure why.

They mentioned on the broadcast respect for DelPo and for the game.

That's nice and all, but he could have permanently damaged his knee for no discernibly good reason. I would think that's the end of his season now.

I assume that one of the questions he'd want to ask during the MTO is whether or not he's doing additional damage by playing through the pain. Frankly, he probably knows what the state of his knee is and can answer that for himself.
