Unless you're having a fantastic serving day, I don't know how you expect to beat Novak standing 10 to 12 feet behind the baseline on the majority of points.

That is my observation as well. Of course I don't really know how you'd beat him regardless but I feel like this approach gave Medvedev no chance really.

To beat Djokovic, you need to be Stanimal. Big power off both wings, willingness to rally and mentality to tell yourself that you're not going to be intimidated by the occasion.
Literally only Alcaraz meets these criteria right now.
