I was invited on an impromptu cycling trip to Palm Springs at the beginning on March. Has anyone done any road riding there? If so, any recommendations of routes?

^ based on my only visit there, I’d say be prepared to deal with wind.

There’s a reason there are wind farms in that valley and area.
I was on a driving trip there a few years back, end of March. Super windy. Not much shelter. I seem to recall noting grit and small rocks on the shoulders (just like spring in Calgary) so consider heavier tires instead of lightweight stuff. Also daylight appropriate front and rear flashers always on whilst riding and day-glow high viz items like helmet socks and gloves.
Lastly… look up heat maps for frequent road routes.

Don't see it mentioned here yet, but the Bow Valley Parkway closure (17km stretch) is back for a 3 year pilot- only spring and fall months though.

Anyone ever order bike gear from light in the box?
They have some decent,y priced jersies; however, I am concerned they will likely run a little small even at thier xxxxl size.

It looks a bit too much like Ali Xpress or the knock-offs on Amazon. If they're like those, they'll definitely run small.

It was a fantastic family bike and hike and made Johnston canyon crowd free. This is nice for cyclists but really leaves out families.
I think 1 way, campground and lodge traffic only, and public transit with 1 dedicated lane for cycling would have been better.

Don't take this as gospel or anything as I am by no means a hardcore cyclist, but I ordered a few jerseys from them as they had something specific I wanted (Greek themed ) jerseys.
I ordered 2 large and they fit well, the only other jersey I have was from a friend who gave me a Specialized jersey that was XL but he said had no business being an XL, more like a large.
I can't really say anything bad about my experience with Light In the Box. The ad's on Google afterward were awful and I get a million emails via my junk box but that is life.
That being said, I can honestly say if I was lookin for something basic, some of the cycle shops in town have similar prices to what I paid for similar level quality.

I like this idea too, but it'd be really tough to regulate. Tourist heavy areas have to be dead simple to understand you just know that people would drive right through without knowing they weren't allowed. I doubt Parks wants to pay a flagger to sit there all day metering traffic.
They've gotta figure out something for cyclists to start closer than Banff to make it more approachable to a larger segment of people. Asking them to start 7 km from the parkway is just silly.

Will this be the spring I will be able to upgrade my current ride at a reasonable price or is everything already pre-sold out for the year again?

Depends how old your ride is and how much you're willing to consider a used rig? Not likely the year to be finding many low-cost good used bikes. Lots of people no doubt selling for far more than they should too. Guess that's called a "free market economy".

You could charge a parking toll at Johnson canyon to pay for the flag guy. $100 per car for a JC parking pass, same for Lake Louise and then use profits to subsidize and expand transit

I was looking at a custom road bike order, a shimano build was about 240 days, a SRAM build was 450+. I love the plus there, pretty much a who knows when, but something longer then 15 months.
The shimano build I ordered ended up slightly better than originally forecast, about 7 months, but it’ll arrive after most of the summer is done.

Check out Inside line. Last time I was in there, they had some Forbidden and Evil bikes on the floor.

Return to some office time next week. Will be an adjustment from WFH but I'm mostly looking forward to some regular riding again, even if mostly on the paths. Not looking forward to having to be more organized plus the schlepping of daily gear to/from. Thankfully just prior to this last cold snap we had about a month of nice-enough weather to make sure the legs, butt, and bike all work.
