Really, how do you know they haven't been the most accurate? Until late tonight we won't really know which polls have been accurate as far as I know.

I'm not a mod, but why? There's nothing wrong with this that I know of?

With call display, we don't pick up unfamiliar numbers or obvious marketing numbers so I can't say for sure if we've gotten zero or a hundred robocalls.
Do people really blindly answer the phone every time it rings in this day and age?

I honestly wonder how telemarketers make money. Is there really anyone who thinks, "Why yes I do need my furnace cleaned, and you sound like just the people to do it!" Any company that telemarkets would be automatically off my list. /threadjacking
I was disappointed advance polling wasn't open yesterday. Thur/Fri/Sat only.

The only weekend poll I remember seeing was the one from Leger which showed the PC and WR in a tie (April 8). That poll was totally different than every other poll around that time and even Leger's polls before and after were totally different.
Leger
April 4 - WR 41.3 PC 33.9
April 8 - WR 35.5 PC 34.2
April 16 - WR 42 PC 36

Its not that I pick up the call because I'm so lonely that I'm just craving human interaction from anyone.
But a flashing number on my digital answering maching compells me to hit the play button.
I usually don't use my land line, its more to allow me to control the door of my building as anyone who knows me calls me on my cellphone, but my landline has been burining up over the last couple of weeks.

Huge turn out in the advance polls means the PEOPLE are ready to kick the ruling party off to the side of the curb.

Flip I’m still undecided on this one. I just cannot get excited about any of these parties or their respective platforms, where one has something I like there is always an equal downside somewhere. While I am not a Wildrose Supporter I will say that the their portrayal by people of my relative age is ridiculous. My facebook wall feed is littered with people saying that the Wildrose will take away same sex marriage, make abortions illegal, and are all closet racist with seemingly no evidence to support any of these ridiculous claims. The biggest face palm occurred reading a post wondering why government debt is an issue at all. Yes, because real issues like government spending should be ignored while made up issues like gay rights is what this election is really about.
Someone just tell me who to vote for.

That's the thing that the PC's were hoping wouldn't happen.
The lower the turnout the better for the PC's

Got my first robocall left on voicemail this morning. Christopher Tahn - wrong riding, buddy.
And it specifically said 'get out there today and back a winner'
edit: Tahn, not Tang.

Part of me is really hoping that the PC's get crushed tonight. With the destruction of the Federal Liberal's and if the PC's get bounced I'm hoping its the end of the alluding to a evil Palpatineesque hidden agenda as a viable campaign strategy, and proves that people are much smarter and well informed about their political parties then to buy that crap.

Good idea. Its supposed to get up to 26C today. Maybe I should go home and take the top off the Jeep Rubicon and sign up as a volunteer driver.
I can see it now... picking up some 80 year old lady who wants to cast her ballot, her blue hair blowing in the wind as I power down the street at 60 kph, with perhaps a little detour to do a little scenic hill climbing/mud bogging/offroading.
Make this election day a memorable one for her.
Nah... forget it... I'm just not that nice of person... let them walk to the polls.

On a side note, it seems like a lot of people are getting these annoying robocalls. I suppose a lot of us would like to see them banned during elections. Should they be banned?
What about banning published poll results during an election campaign? Do you think they have an influence on the way people vote? If yes, is that a good thing or a bad thing?
Do you think published polls result in strategic voting by a lot of people? Isn't this somewhat of a corruption of the democratic system. Shouldn't people be voting for someone instead of against someone?
Just some thoughts...
