Mariota as a bridge is probably the smart play. Minshew really hasn't shown that much starter potential, and since he too is under contract will cost draft capital. From what I've seen from Minshew he will probably be the Chase Daniel of this era, high end backup who somehow makes $40 million+ in career earnings despite rarely playing.

Jimmy G in Indy might be a smart move. He could do well just handing off to Taylor

Why wouldn't they have traded for him last season? It's not like it would have taken much of an offer for the Raiders to give him up. Certainly not a 1st or 2nd round pick.

thing is, Mariota is going to have a somewhat decent market. If the Steelers miss out on him, I'd be more than happy to give up a mid/late pick for Minshew. This year's draft class stinks, and guys like Garoppolo or Wentz are not the answer.

Mariota's market will be interesting. Indy certainly makes the most sense for him as they would be the best team in need of a QB if they moved from Wentz. Otherwise I don't see a lot of other options besides the Steelers where he'd definitely start, at least until we see how the trade market shakes out. Saints too I guess. But with Washington, Carolina, and Denver you figure will be after Deshaun or Rodgers or Russ, but could also choose a rookie on the cheaper deal than Mariota is likely to get. Otherwise everyone else has a young or established starter.

Mariota is a gamer as he will put his body on the line to make plays but he's just so inaccurate as a passer. Every year we heard in preseason that he was going to push Carr and every preseason Raiders beat writers would say how inaccurate Mariota was in training camp and practice. I don't think Wentz is more than an average QB but I don't know if Mariota is an upgrade. It would make more sense for a team like the Steelers or even Saints to bring him in as a UFA.

If the Colts get Mariota it's only fair that the Titans get Andrew Luck. IMO, Mariota is a streaky QB, when he is on he's great dynamic threat to run/pass. But when he's off, he is painful to watch. I don't think he has ever been the same since breaking his leg to the Jags on Christmas Eve.

Flores is joining the Steelers as a Defensive Assistant and Linebacker coach. Seem like a decent move.

I think its a great move actually. Flores did a lot on the defensive side of the ball with the Patriots, and I thought that Miami actually shafted him, not due to performance, but rather him ignoring Ross' directive to tank the season.
Can't speak as to the affect his lawsuit might have, however, the Rooney family is really one of, if not the, best owners in the NFL.
Flores will get a fair shake under Tomlin and the Rooneys.

absolutely loving this. Adding smart people to the room is always a great thing, and Flores deserves to work in the NFL, period. Awesome hire.

Does TB12 want to be a commentator?
For years he did that half-time thing on MNF radio.

Pretty crazy money but makes sense when you consider how much the networks pay to cover the league. Aikman is making way more on TV than he ever did when he was winning Super Bowls for the Cowboys. ESPN has to do something about their Monday Night crew as they are the worst IMO.

If they could get Al Michaels, Troy Aikman and keep Louis Reddick...that would be a top notch group.
Also ESPN will have a bunch more games starting next season and will need multiple crews to do so. I suspect they keep Steve Levy (who is a great hockey pbp guy btw) and Brian Griese and add someone else to them.
Sean McVays name keeps popping up too which i find odd.
The other "rumor" is Sean Payton getting a spot and then poaching Drew Brees from NBC to reunite them as analysts.
Just get Booger McFarlane off of broadcasts....dude is just not meant for that role.

It's not that I don't like Reddick or even Griese but I find their voices sound too alike to be on the same panel as it sounds like one guy that's talking too much during the broadcast.

Ahh the combine, where Kenny Pickett's draft stock is about to plummet because he has small hands.
