That Subaru was sick. The McMurtry was ridiculous fast. I still can't get used to the sound of an electric vehicle racing though. It seems so anti-climatic.

....tell me thats not a video screen of what should be the sideview mirror.
I'm out. Can't do it. 30 years thought I loved automobiles, and I hate every single thing about the industry now. #### me.

Man, Hyundai is doing some great design work lately. Not across their whole line, but some of their models just hit it out of the park. I be this will look great in person.
Edit: Good catch, 81MC. Yeah, that's a bad choice. Something like a rearview mirror/side mirror shouldn't be fully video only. Though I suppose cars are ventually going to drive for us, so why do we need mirror anyways?

@Photon: The Mach E is a gorgeous vehicle, even if it wasn't named properly.

It blows my mind that they are actually going to remove side mirrors entirely in favour of friggin' cameras. I can't believe it needs to be said, but side view mirrors are a safety feature even when the car is off and stationary.
Things like mirrors should not be replaced entirely by screens and cameras. Even the C8 'Vette with its rear view mirror and camera still functions as a run of the mill rear view mirror when it is off.

The full digital side mirrors are becoming more common, and they do reduce drag a lot. But I don't think they're allowed in the US (not sure about Canada), and the Canada versions of the Ioniq 5 and GV60 come with full mirrors (where you can get the digital ones in South Korea), so unless the rules change the Ioniq 6 will probably have full mirrors over here too.

Actually I think it looks like a CLA and a Taycan hooked up.

I've been waiting for screen side view mirrors since like '92 when cadillac had it on some concept car. It's genius. Side view mirrors are one of those fixtures that has never been re-addressed because how do you improve on that? Well, when you can make what used to be 10" x 6" on the side of a car become a little 1" x 1" camera and bring the screen inside the vehicle beside your gauge cluster, you've absolutely improved things. And we have screens and cameras sorted out at this point. I'm not worried about the reliability of the tech. Anything they can do to cars to change up some of the things we take for granted always interests me. That is an option I would totally be interested in.

K, Sliver likes it, that’s all the rest of the world should need to know to tell them how ridiculous it is.

All these screens introduce more points of failure, especially when you leave a vehicle outside in -20 to -30 degree weather. That being said, I've yet to have my infotainment screens act up in cold weather. *knock on wood*

I remember my dad not wanting power windows because 'it's just another thing that can go wrong.' Stuff is so reliable now it's just not a concern.

Yeah, fair. I definitely felt a bit old man yelling at clouds after writing that post.
On an unrelated note, I am purchasing my first roof rack and cargo box combo for our VW Sportwagen. Any dos/don'ts I should be aware of? I'm going used, not new.

You don't drive from the outside...
Hyundai is killing it right now. Especially with anything with Genesis badging.

I also don't even agree that it's ugly, at least based on the photos. I mean it has an aesthetic, and it may not be for everyone, but it's not a Nissan Juke. The proportions are good.

I think it looks good even if not overly original as they borrowed the front from the Urus and the rear from the EQS.
