It would be hilarious if Cersei was pregnant and had a dwarf, added bonus if she dies in labour.

My wife and I at the end of the episode yelling at the TV "DON'T DO IT, JON, DON'T!!!"
Terrific season finale.
I was only puzzled by one thing. Why didn't the mountain cut Jaime in half? Did Cersei just fire him as leader of the army?

Cersei couldn't kill Tyrion, she wasn't capable of killing Jamie.

I think she just couldn't give the order.
As much as Cersei hates both her brothers, she was taught by her dad that family is the most important thing. She's constantly been angered by her family's decisions and felt cheated by their deaths/murders that I don't think she could bring herself to take out Jaime too. Then she'd lose the high ground on the both of them.
Not to mention the fact that he's developed into her annoying conscience. She won't kill him for it, but doesn't want him around anymore.
Of course this ignores the fact that her murdering her son's wife was the motivation for him to kill hilself but I'm guessing she's rationalized that as being someone else's fault.

I'm curious to see if the Cersei/Tyrion discussion was hidden from us on purpose because of the contents or for dramatic purposes and they wanted the reveal of her returning to the dragon pit to negotiate.

He made a deal with Cersei to get her back to the table I think

Yes, and Jaime recognized it for the bluff it was.

Well it's good the Mountain did too then, unless she told him not to actually do it in advance which makes the scene even odder.

I was sure they were gonna open the wight box and it would just be a bunch of dust. so I guess those strong and ancient magics that Benjen said are in the wall foundations aren't so tough after all.
my assumption is that without a dragon, the walker plan is simply to overwhelm the gates at eastwatch and go through the tunnel. but godzilla breath is just a bonus achievement that saves them a bunch of time.

Good episode. They didn't reply too heavily on Bran to convict Little finger. Glad they made it more about Sansa wising up, and I'm also happy that it wasn't a long drawn out execution, just Arya non chalantpy walking up and a quick slit, peace out db. I did not like that they went with Sam all of a sudden recalling what Gillie said about the annulment when it was pretty evident that he wasn't really paying attention, but ah well.
Jon and Dany, Dany and Jon. It was inevitable, and now I am more than curious if Jon still has claim to winterfell after the truth of his lineage comes out.
Viserion with blue dragon flame!! And the speed, unnatural, undead speed. Love it. Did not like that there was giant hole in his chest from that spear hit though. You should have been able to see right through Viserion.
Jaime finally coming to his senses was good. It felt right.
Season 8 will be fast.

Lyanna probably outlived all of them and she is the one that gave the name.
Sam said he transcribed that Sept's journal, so he wrote it down more than just heard it in passing.

It would appear so. Rhaegar's first son was dead by the time Jon was born (although, I don't know if Lyanna would have known that). I'm also not sure if Rhaegar's children were ever named on the show. Jon's real name might be different in the books.

He said that he read the information while transcribing the Maester's diary. Gilly reading it was new information for us, but it was something Sam already knew.

There was a scene earlier in the season where Jamie walks into Cersei's bedroom and the Hand guy (can't remember his name - creepy guy who made zombie mountain) was in there with her. He was surprised by that. I always wondered if that's why Jamie asked who the father was when she told him she was pregnant.
It wouldn't surprise me if she had some demon baby in there thanks to creepy guy, if she's actually pregnant.

and geez Littlefinger, how about dying with a bit of dignity. nobody has blubbered that hard since Janos Slynt was on the chopping block.
while it was fun and logically the only conclusion to his story, that doesn't make the Stark sister scenes much more explicable. I would have preferred they if they used that time instead to show how Littlefinger was increasingly becoming a fish out of water in the new magic fantasy world. like you could have him going around and talking to various lords, attempting to scheme as always, but not having as much success as before. or maybe he thinks everything is going exactly as planned, leading to a takeover attempt in the great hall where he believes everyone's got his back (like Ned did) and then it turns out the kids screw him over the way he did their father.
it would be a nice mirror to the way Ned and Robb used to suck at The Game, and they just couldn't adjust until it was too late. basically that's what happened to LF, but the guy who was once called the Most Dangerous Man in Westeros deserved a more drawn out downfall like all his victims had.

A lot of people liked this episode, but I thought it was more just okay. I didn't like how the zombie dragon was used to melt the wall. That means if they would have ignored the WW threat, Danny wouldn't have brought her dragons to the Nights King and there wouldn't have been a problem. Now if he had another plan to get through the wall and the dragon just speeded things up, that I could live with.

I think this shows the night king as some ability to see the future. Yes you get into a timeloop thing but the whole temporal warging thing he has with Bran seems to sort of support this. It also explains why he would have the zombie army wait around the frozen lake.
Or it was lazy story telling.

He's a mix of Targaryen and Stark, so he's pretty much got claim to the iron throne and Winterfell, as far as I can tell.
