Did anyone hear about closures to 11th St SE on the news between Heritage Dr and 58th Ave? I swear I heard it while listening to 660News tonight, but I can't find any reference to this at all on the City's website.

Gotta say: whilst I've never been much of a ring road fan (I feel the money would be better spent on ways through the city than around it), it kicked butt during this flood.

So you're asking why a guy who has never used social media in his careerwhy he didn't reach out to Calgary with his non existent social media accounts?

You can't judge the character of a man by what he says but moreso by his actions.

Jarome didn't publicly 'do' anything, who says that he hasn't donated some money to the Red Cross? Nobody knew of the hotel room he rented for the Canadian fans during the Olympics until others spoke of it. Some people just don't need to trumpet their good deeds to the world, it further proves their class.

Lanny McDonald lives in the city, do you expect him to gather a few reporters to make a statement? Craig Conroy likes to speak, what about him? Michael Cammalleri is on twitter, does he need to say something as well?

How about Bret Hart? Stephen Ames, Cassie Campbell?

Who cares if there is an 'acknowledgement'? Not everybody has to publicize their actions. Calgary Puck is not TMZ.

Please continue discussing things that matter.

I'd be willing to add your shirt to my order if you can pick up the shirt from me in the NE during the day or in the NW in the evenings. Just send me a PM to figure out the email transfer for the funds. Don't worry about the shipping.

Open call for all interested CPers

Thanks, but I'll wager that I'll be able to get one on the grounds unless otherwise informed.

Thanked, because this obsession with 2005 is a little much for me. 2005 is only an anecdotal reference point for those of us living in Calgary now. It doesn't represent the previous high water mark, the previous one set in a time when there was no climate change to blame it on (oddly enough over 80 years ago).

I'm not saying there's no man made climate change involvement in this, just that the context of history needs to be fully and accurately examined before a 'shutup, repent, and buy a bicycle' reaction is warranted everytime someone's home gets trashed by mother nature.

Agreed. Sort of. I think.

I'm a card-carrying member of the CP Hippy Dippy Club, and I am currently a "Displaced Citizen" because of this disaster, and I really want people to shut up about climate change and this mess. Bring it up later, if need be. We don't want to hear it.

Now maybe if you are "in the $hit", as we said when I was in 'Nam, then you can make noise, but if you are not even in Calgary and want to start bitching about how "we reap what we sow" or whatever way you want to say it, eff off.

I'm not particularly happy with how the oil business works in this province, but people elsewhere who reap the benefits and use the product are akin to drug users who blame the dealer, and have a smile on their face when he gets beat up. And then phone him when he's out of the hospital.

The Bow didn't even really flood in 2005. The elbow did, and fish creek did, but the latter was from the dam burst more than anything.

Am I wrong in recalling 2005 as a "100 year rainfall" and not necessarily a "100 year flood." My recollection of 2005 is that we had crazy, heavy, non-stop rain in the city, and the flooding was everywhere, not just by the river, our suburban street was flooded, many basements in the neighbourhood leaked, and there were lots of people all over the city with leaking roofs, basements, and siding. This year we had none of that out here, it was all just the river.

Yes, Calgary had lots of rain in June 2005. I don't think anywhere near "100 year rains", but it was a lot.

A link to those t-shirts are popping up everywhere online. I hope they can keep up with the demand so everyone can wear them before and at the Stampede.

I caught the end of a new item this morning, and it seemmed to be saying some people in high river were looking at getting court injunctions to access their homes?

Is this correct?

If they are, they are idiots. I wonder what part of "state of emergency" those morons fail to comprehend.

As far as the earlier topic goes, people searching for reasons to hate Iginla are pathetic.

I saw that mentioned on the news. They interviewed one of the organizers and he fully admitted that they probably don't have a leg to stand on, but they are frustrated with not even being allowed to go in and look. It has been days and they and there isn't hasn't even been a hint of when they can return.

So I'm sure they are just so frustrated they need to do something. Ultimately they are distracting from the task at hand, but if I had been rushed out of my home and then kept away for days and days, I'm sure I'd be getting a bit antsy too.
