The PM (Pro-democracy guy) has been saying in public he was against the western sanctions on the gov't, but has been telling the US to keep them on because Mugabe hasn't done enough to promote democracy. Now Mugabe is going to label him a traitor and take full control again. Way to go Assange!!! Giving a terrible dictator more power!! This is why this stuff needs to remain secret. Oh but don't worry the wikileaks hacker friends are using DDOS attacks to shut down Mugabe's websites to even the score.

I'm still amazed that anyone puts much stock in wikileaks at all. If I was a man of international intrigue, I'd be gaming the hell out of wikileaks and planting my own leaked information to covertly sway public opinion and run misinformation campaigns against my foes.

Why wouldn't you just go to the website and see? They violated Paypal's terms so I doubt they ever will be.

Remind us again when terms they violated.

Don't know nor do I care. All I know is Paypal said they did. I figured Paypal knows their own terms better than I do so I'll take their word for it. Paypal can choose who they allow to use their service and don't want wikileaks too. It's their prerogative.

Good point.
A lot of people are forgetting about this. Hell, candidates running for office in the US could leak information through wikileaks to damage their opponent.

Which must obviously invalidate all the preceding material.

So? Provided that the information is authentic I see no issue with it. Besides which, do you really think that political operatives are just sitting on documents that damage their opponents and not leaking them to the press already?

Wikileaks vets the information well. It's not like opponent one can just tell wikileaks "hey this guy is corrupt." You need the proof and they will look over that proof. It would be pretty hard to BS them and potentially illegal if you worked for a government.
If it's legit, then it's no different than any other news agency. Politicians have far more sinister ways to attack opponents than leaking actually politically damaging information. I recall Bush's team calling around implying through questions that McCain had a child out of wedlock. Push polling I think it's called.

Wkileaks has been handed over Swiss banking info that suggests celebrities, business leaders, and politicians.

Do you need to finish your sentence? Suggests they did what? Suggests them for what?

It's supposed to be a list of politicians and high profile figures using these accounts to escape taxes.

Wait, people use Swiss bank accounts to hide income? What earth shattering news.

I think it is an important disclosure with respect to the politicians who play this game. It is a meaningful disclosure to know that your statesman is hiding taxes from the country he supposedly serves, or when an autocrat / dictator is using these channels to funnel money stolen from the citizens.
I could care less if private figures / celebrities do it because I don't have to subsidize their income through taxes
