I'd be okay with that....as long as it's on defense. Carlos Dunlap would make a pretty good bookend with Trent Cole.

Problem is the Lions just drafted a pretty good saftey in Delmas last year, so S isn't a need for them. Either McCoy or Okung would help them big time.
I think they should take Okung, to protect that franchise QB.

One of the mock drafts I read suggested that the Lions would be crazy to pass up on Okung for that very reason. It than went on a rant about how Jim Schwartz liked Jeff Backus. I hope they take McCoy as it would likely give the Chiefs a shot at Okung as I'd think the Bucs would take Berry and hope Washington goes for a QB. If Berry and Okung are off the board when the Chiefs are up, I'd hope they could move down.

Not too sure Okung would last all the way to the Chiefs, simply becuase it wouldn't surprise me if Washington took him.
That T position is becoming the the 2nd most important peice to an offensive game.
So many possibilities right now in that top 5, but that could all change after the combine.

Yeah, those blindside tackles are starting to become the number two position of importance for most teams. Although QB is still number one, and with a new regime in Washington and them not really having their guy in place at QB I'm still hopeful that they'll take a guy like Bradford.
No doubt though a lot could change. I don't think anyone expected the Chiefs to take Tyson Jackson with the number 3 pick last year.
It will be interesting to see how eager teams are to move up in this draft with the idea that a rookie cap could be in place for the next draft.

Having watched Delmas play this year I don't think he is a pretty good safety. He still has time to improve but it doesn't look like he will be much more than a average starter in the league.
I wouldn't mind a tackle but Okung seems to be getting ranked so high because he is the best tackle in the draft not because he is that talented.
Plus if he is there protecting Stafford it won't matter too much as the defense can run around the 4 other stiffs on the Lions line.
The Lions have so many holes that it doesn't matter who they pick as it will fill a need. I think that they screwed up last season by not taking Oher and than Maualuga and instead taking Pettigrew and Delmas.
I see Berry as the guy who is the biggest playmaker and guy who can individually have the most impact on a team which is why I want him.

Lane Kiffin said that Berry will be ‘An NFL teams defensive captain, and perennial pro-bowler for the next decade’. And that man knows from defense, like him or not. (I hate him, for the record. Hahaha) Please somehow fall to #13. (I know its not happening, but I can hope)

That was a horrible pick. Even if Jackson turns into a perenial ProBowler, Pioli could have traded down to get him.

He didn't do a whole lot. Granted defensive ends in a 3-4 Defence often don't put up much in terms of statistics. Rookie players also tend to have a tough time making an impact on the line in their first year as they need time to build themselves up to handle the physicality of the NFL. But backup Wallace Gilbury had 4.5 sacks, Jackson and Dorsey combined for 1 I think.
Glen Dorsey did very little in his rookie year, but towards the end of this season you could tell he made a difference on the defence as when he was out against Buffalo and Cleveland they really ran all over the Chiefs. This coming year will be a telling one for those two guys.

I watched every Chiefs game and I didn't hear a peep about him all season either. The Chiefs starting defensive line had only one sack all season. Glen Dorsey in the final game of the season in Denver. Despite Jackson's some what quiet season he was selected to the 2009 NFL All Rookie Team. When that was reported by the Chiefs on Twitter somebody tweeted back asking "Tyson Jackson? Is this award automatically given to top draft picks?". I guess no other rookie DE played better this past season.
I'm not too worried about him yet. Takes most defensive lineman a few years to excel in the NFL. If Dorsey and Jackson don't show improvement this coming season under Crennel, I guess we could say they are busts or at the very least disappointing.

Knowing how Reid is he'll draft an offensive lineman. It's all about building from the inside out. He's taken a flyer lately with desean and maclin, but he can't help himself to go back to old ways. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I love it.

Sandro DeAngelis had a tryout with the Dallas Cowboys yesterday. He will hear back from them this week.

I hear the same things about Schwartz liking Backus. I think taking Okung would be a reach and if the Lions can't draft Suh then McCoy is a nice consolation. There are a lot of quality D-line prospects in the top 100. But Suh and McCoy are above and beyond the rest.
Moon, you do know that Delmas was second in line Cushing for the DROY right? You do know that entire defence was putrid right? I think Delmas is a Pro-bowler in 3 years if the talent in their D improves overall.
Re: Pioli's selection of Jackson. It was a real risky pick. He obviously didn't find a taker to trade up to select someone else. Some scouts and analysts called that pick a few days before the draft if I remember correctly. Jackson was a mile above the next best 5 technique D-lineman. It was a real shallow draft for that position. Pioli made a move and in a 3-4, how often do the Dline really get sacks? Obviously NFL executives value Jackson's other intangibles if he was given a distinction, or it was a shallow year for DLine talent.
I hope the Pack draft that Bulaga guy. I hear he is going to rocket up draft boards after his work outs. He is coming from that Iowa power weight lifting and him leaving so early is testament to his abilities.

Braylon Edwards trashed the Jets play calling after the game yesterday. Doesn't strike me as a Rex Ryan guy. Wonder if he ends up somewhere else this offseason

So after Matt Schaub was orginally left off the pro bowl roster and eventually got to replace Tom Brady. He was a guy who easily could have been in the game on his own merit. But today they had to name the #5 guy from the AFC as David Garrard to take Mannings spot. Maybe a guy like Ben Roethlisberger was injured but what does it say about the pro bowl when you have to go to a guy like David Garrard to get a third QB for the game?

Roethlisberger was asked before Young and Garrard but the Steelers medical staff told him he can't go due to an injury. Young already has replaced Rivers in the Pro Bowl.
Original AFC Pro bowl QB's:
Manning (can't go due to Superbowl)
Rivers (can't go due to being pissed off about losing to the Jets/injury/fatigue)
Brady (can't go due to injury)
* - Roethlisberger was asked before Garrard and Vince Young but couldn't go bc of injury.
Replacement QB's:
Schaub
Vince Young
Garrard
That's quite the dropoff.
