I haven't read this thread because it is way to long, but for the record, I am all for banning smoking in vehicles with children. I remember when my Mom smoked all the time in the car and in the house. It is sick and it is abuse. Unfortunatly, people aren't smart enough not to do it so a law needs to be created.

I wonder if anyone has gotten a littering ticket for tossing a butt out of their vehicle.

Did you notice the US open had a non smoking policy for all spectators. I think Angel Cabrera was the only player that still smokes.

My brothers and I would always dread when mom & dad would break out the smokes when we were all travelling in the car. The smoke always wafted into the backseat, no matter what.

Seizure and disposition of tobacco products
4(1) When a peace officer believes on reasonable and probable grounds that an offence is being committed under this Act, the peace officer may seize any tobacco products related to that offence.

I really wonder why this is not more heavily enforced. I smoked all through high school and not once were my smokes taken away from me.

This only came into force April 1, 2003. So unless you are under the age of 23 or took a few times to get your grade 10, it probably wasn't around then.

Police Officers generally have bigger fish to fry than minors who smoke.
