No, not the blue one. I heard the blue is very... bright you could say. But went with a more classic look.
The band is especially nice. I saw it in person at one store and couldn't believe how much nicer it feels and looks than the pictures.

That might be the first Swatch I've seen that looks like something a man can wear.

I have never been a big watch person, but I had started looking into getting one over the last while. I was at a charity event last night and decided to help a great cause and get myself a watch during the auction. I won the Bulova Precisionist Tanglewood.

What did your wife end up getting? I think I remember she was looking at the Omegas too.

I collect Swatch watches and they are very good quality and keep excellent time. Nice Swatch!

The fiancée (soon to be wife) got the Purple constellation.
It's hard to get a pic of it, the purple changes depending on the light.
Here's the pic from the website. Both watches look much better in person, the Hour vision is more of an off-white than white. The Purple constellation is a very deep purple and reflects light in a way I can't explain, but there is some depth to it.
As for price, I got about 20% off retail which seems to be standard for most stores in Calgary.
My parents did find this at a garage sale for $1. The second hand is detached and the crystal is yellowed. I'm getting a quote for it to be restored. If it can be fixed, probably slap on a black or brown leather strap. It appears to date back to the late 50's, early 60's. Will know for sure once they open it up and see the movement.

That is a sweet watch. Classic rolex.
Don't normally see a black/gold sub, can only imagine it's more impressive in person.

Instead of starting a new thread, I figured I might ask in here since there are a few watch afficiando's here. Is there any place in Calgary that has Jacques Farel watches? I've called a couple stores but they did not carry that brand. I'm specifically looking for the Jacques Farel Kid Watches as they make a great teaching watch and looking to purchase one without having to go through Amazon.com and a possible customs ripoff.

I've ordered a watch from Amazon.com before. It's actually decent for shipping/customs. Still cheaper than what I could get it here for. Just make sure it is Shipped by Amazon.com and not some other store.

The price of the shipping is reasonable, I just have concerns as they claim to ship through DHL Global Mail and I'm worried about getting dinged with "handling fees" because someone at DHL had to touch it and then have additional fees levied on it. I don't want a $30 watch to turn into $60 one.

Amazon will quote you how much they charge you in customs before you order. Then it gets added to the order. DHL will ship it to the border and then Canada Post takes it over.

Awesome. Thank you so much for the information. I didn't realize it went from DHL to Canada Post.

Very nice! How's she liking it?
My (also very soon to be wife) gf is going to be sporting one of these in a few weeks. She just doesn't know it yet.
A few months ago she was going on and on about those Michelle watches, which at first I considered for her as a wedding present, but I wanted to give her something that won't go out of style and has the potential to last a really long time.
The price totally blows my plans for my next watch (was saving up for a Milgauss or Explorer 1), but hey, she's worth it... plus I feel a little guilty having a nice Omega and her wearing an e-bay special.
Btw, amazing steal on that Omega. Even if it doesn't run, hey $1.

Nice watch, love the steel blue hands on that.
The fiancée loves the Omega. She wears it all the time. I'm glad she does, so I don't feel bad about wearing my Omega around. haha.
Used Rolexes can be had for decent prices. I'm assuming you already looked that route?
$700ish to restore the $1 Omega. The Omega is a Seamaster bumper watch, dated from the late 40's, early 50's!
