I'd be much happier about this if Rasmus' market for full value hadn't just got essentially shrunken down to one team.
Hopefully CC can't pull a rabbit from his hat on this one.

Can probably get more for rental prices than what Vegas can give us for a signed Razz. Get this trade done!!

I just don't get how you can be mad at the player. He's made it clear for a while that he wants to win. We are not a contender. I also don't think the Kings are close either. We should have shopped him last summer or at the deadline.
|
Agree.
Silver lining this morning for me, is getting to watch you take a victory lap and again the "invisible hand" pushing us another step closer to a rebuild. The Wolf step back this season puts us in the bottom 10.
With Andersson...There is some leverage that will re-appear as the new CBA maxes deals at 6yrs/7yrs. Calgary is the only team that can give 8yrs at the moment without a trade.

We all have stress and things going on in our lives outside of this silly little website. You tried to put people on blast for their opinion and got called out on it. Sorry you’re not feeling well and I do hope you feel better soon, but maybe just take the L and calm down a bit.

It does work both ways.
Every freaking day.
Big difference though? One side is trying to be somewhat hopeful. The other looking to post negative things every chance they get.
If you see that equal in value ... fill your boots. I see one as pointless, and the other the very definition of being a fan ... that is backing something with hope and enjoyment.
Sorry if pointing that out once in a while to try and stop the title wave of know it alls ruffle your feathers.
And my points aren't putting anyone on "blast" any more than anyone else's opinins.
Thanks for the kind words on being sick. Just wiped out a weekend. Has certainly made me grumpy.

Tkachuk is a saint compared to what this team has had to deal with the last 3 years. I love that guy.

Even if he was “calculated” he didn’t burn the same bridges as other guys and now has 2 cups to show for it. Karma

Some GM should still be willing to take the risk though IMO
Honestly if you think you can win with Andersson then trade for him and you have 3/4 season to convince him to stay or see if he's a fit.
If not then you can flip him again at the deadline if it doesn't work out.
Carolina did this in season and was able to turn it around.

The players are doing what they're allowed to do, the team has just been trying to be k8nd to players for too long now. Anderson isn't breaking any rules, the team should have traded him last year and didn't, now they're stuck.
Learn from this and treat it like a business. The players say all the right things when it benefits them and the team eats it up, but as soon as they have all the power they say what they want and who cares if it hurts the team.
Poor asset management by the Flames....again.

Poor asset management is letting him walk for nothing in my opinion. Trade him for the best return this summer and move on. Yes, it would be nice if they could get a more sizable return for a signed player. Take the lesson to just not let teams negotiate with your players at all. They other team needs to take that risk as it’s clear the players just exert too much control and sewer deals.

There is nothing to suggest he won’t do that if it’s the best deal.

How is it poor asset management when Ras has over a year left in his deal and we’re looking to trade him now? Do we really need to trade players two years in advance?

Don't think Vegas can sign Andersson to an extension now anyways, Marners making 12.

To avoid situations like this yes I would say that is a legitimate avenue to have explored

I'm actually curious how his teammates feel about this.
Perhaps they don't care because they would pull the same thing in his situation. Gotta think some of them would be annoyed that he will be leaving and bringing back little in return.
As a fan this is super frustrating. Even Iggy did this to us back in the day...although I can forgive him a little more because it was Iggy, and if there was ever a guy who deserved to go somewhere and win it was Iggy.

I’m wondering if this is perhaps symptomatic of a blind spot in Craig’s abilities as a GM. He comes from a time when guys like himself, Iggy, and Sakic were the ones you’d look up to. Class acts all the way. But the league has changed since that time, and it’s now a business first and hockey second. The Oilers came within one game of a cup by building a team of absolutely despicable humans who happened to sign some very team friendly contracts. Again, business first and hockey second. Seems like many teams and players have figured this out but the Flames haven’t.
