He already led Buffalo forwards in PP time.
His most common linemates were Thompson, Tuch, Dahlin and Power (that's a strong supporting cast)
He led the the entire NHL with an on ice SH% at five on five of 14.29% (of those who played over 1000 mins)
His defensive metrics were quite poor

A lot of things went right for him this season - so I am not sure he really has the ability to pop more than he already has - especially in Calgary currently. I'd be surprised if he was able to match his output from last season on this roster.

It's a tough one for me as these types of young talents don't pop onto the trade market to often, I am just not convinced he is the piece we should be spending significant assets to bring in considering team needs, etc..

Worked out as we got Parekh, but I don't think Conroy is making moves to lose like Briere does.

I pointed this out several times, his linemates were very good. He also got prime time ice. He will also probably want $8mil. He probably costs us 1st round picks. If the majority of the value we trade comes from the log jam of wingers, yes let's trade for him.

Never mind that Coleman absolutely should be moved now that his nmc clause is done. A soon to be 34 year old winger with good trade value on a team with almost no chance of winning a cup
There are 12 forwards 4 play center and 8 play wing

Kadri, Backlund, Frost, and likely Kirkland fill those 4 center spots

Injuries happen, Kirrkland isnt signed and players are assets.
Conroy has to be looking at options on all players not named Wolf or Parekh.

He's the kind of guy who is a deadline add more than an offseason move. Same for Backs.

Rasmus I see as more of an off season move, though his value maybe moves up as his contract gets less onerous as the year goes by.

If the Flames committed to Backlund as the 4C and give Zary a shot at C there could be a spot on the wing open

Huberdeau-Kadri-Coronato
Farabee-Frost-Sharangovich
Coleman-Zary-?
Pospisil-Backlund-Klapka

Otherwise I see it

Zary-Kadri-Coronato
Huberdeau-Frost-Sharangovich
Farabee-Backlund-Coleman
Pospisil-?-Klapka

Seems like the flames may be shaking this group up if they are looking at free agent bottom 6 guys

My guess, Kirkland is not the 4th line center, if signed, he is likely a winger.

Sam Morton, might have a chance for that role,

I don't get the desire to sign Kirkland. Pat on 960 seems to be all hot and bothered over getting this guy signed right away.

What am I missing?

Very true but one thing Conroy has said is he wants to leave spots open for young players. Having 11-12 forwards on the team is not a bad thing going into camp

Meeting with a source this afternoon, I hope to have a update on Rasmus and it's current status.

Didn’t Royle state a few months ago that some teams coveted Pospisil and thought the flames were not playing him high enough the lineup?

I wonder if he is a trade piece worth more than some of us think?

I personally believe that Pospisil has far more value than most believe. He has a skillset that the entire league covets, and his contract makes him even more valuable.

I just don't think Conroy has even the slightest appetite to move him.

Yeah, there are three or four guys who could land a spot on bottom six wing, including Honzek if they start on on the side. Strongren, Suneiv, Kerins. Or maybe Basha, Gridin or Battaglia shock out of camp and get a spot. I could also see them signing Kirkland and/or Hunt to two ways.

I suppose anything is possible, but I personally feel like the chances of that are almost zero. Not saying this is the reason you suggested it, but I have noticed a frankly unhealthy obsession by some with Treliving and noticing some projecting going on now with people convinced that others will feel the same way about Treliving that they do.
