Canada threatening retaliatory tariffs on things like bourbon and orange juice is hilarious. We'd be better off threatening to throw snowballs over the border. Canadians boycotting American products will just mean that they'll be cheaper for American consumers to buy.
Do you think getting heavy and sour grades of crude oil from Venezuela offer the same price or security of supply? Lol like it’s objectively worse for them. Way worse.

He is going to use that as a threat regardless. Even if we cave to every single demand he has he will still use it.

There isn’t enough transport available to completely replace Canadian oil let alone cheaply.

I mean if that’s the grand plan it really isn’t a good one.

Trudeau needs to include oil in the tariff list, regardless of how much busboobs whines and wails. Get the gas prices in the US to jump by $0.50-1.00 a gallon and suddenly their whole population will start paying attention, it's one of the few commodity prices they all rally around and blame the current president for regardless of circumstances (though in this case it will be a bonus to be 100% Trump's fault)

That’s one of the biggest issues. What is their grand plan?

No guys, VLCCs from Venezuela are the exact same as a pipe from Canada. They have us by the balls there.

Any idea how we can promote an international travel boycott to red states in the US?

How can we boycott Tesla? Why don't we drop the 100% tariff on Chinese EVs?

I can't see many Canadians wanting to go to the US since Trump has helped sewer the dollar. Plus, everything will be more expensive down there anyway because of his tariffs.

When American companies start raising prices on everything they have manufactured in China, Americans will start putting pressure on Trump. Likewise, when the price of cars has to increase or auto manufacturers need to start shutting down shifts in red states because of the tariffs it will become an issue. Same thing with higher fuel prices. I just hope this happens sooner than later.

Tariffs on crude are basically a double boot in our own junk, given how much gets refined and shipped back. 10% on the way down, which will get passed on to the consumer (us) plus another 10% on the way back. Hurts us more than them.

Tariff the crap out of anything we can replace locally, and support efforts to develop anything we don’t, but could generate locally. So stupid we ship crude to be refined instead of doing it all here. Imagine the leverage we’d have if we could shut off the taps without killing ourselves in the process.

That’s the weirdest stance for someone to take, if you’ve ever been bullied before you know the only answer is a punch in the mouth.

Another reason to do it then. Sure it'll suck in the short term, but Canadians are just as anal about gas prices as Americans are. Tell the hippies in BC that their gas prices jumped up $1/liter because we can't refine our own crude and I bet the opposition to building more refineries drastically reduces

Go suckle from Murica's teat down there. This is Canada.

The saddest part is some of the same Trump defenders had the audacity to wave canadian flags whilst occupying Ottawa.

Phony, faux-Canadians through and through.

I will happily drive you lot to Coutts to go live "free" as hillbillies in the US of Trump.

After Trudeau resigns I hope he joins some celebrity boxing league and fight Musk and Zuck. He can prob take both on at the same time.

Can't wait to see how PP squirms in the next few months. He's an empty suit, following the winds of discontent and saying whatever he thinks his followers want to hear. But now Canada is almost completely united in hating Trump and the US, the only smart play as a politician is to follow suit and stand strong against American arrogance. Yet PP has no spine, he can't disparage Trump for fear of pissing off the vilest 20% of his base that are Trump supporters. I suspect his only play will be to try and blame Trudeau for the whole thing, when he's not spewing complete word salad
