Really excited to watch this kids growth with us.
This is how the prospects ranked here just 10 weeks ago.
Quote:
2025 Rankings:
1. Parekh - 99.2%
2. Reschny - 57.1%
3. Brzustewicz - 46.7%
4. Gridin - 45.3%
|
I'd bet Gridin surpases Brz if a poll was taken today.
But would he pass Reschny right now as well?

He should be right behind Parekh.
His pre-NHL accomplishments are impressive - not Zayne level. Gridin will be considered one of the steals of his draft.

Pretty sure those April goals were kinda important, not to mention recent. Just makes no sense to take him out now, he is a guy that can actually do the thing the team has the most trouble with.

If he brought more to the line up when he wasn't scoring I wouldn't be so contentious about it. He's down right invisible. I won't pretend it's Kuzmenko level where there's zero besides scoring goals but Sharangovich needs to get engaged in the game a hell of alot more. He's a player that doesn't do much more me

Most kids don't have what Gridin has to be able to play at this level so young. But every now and then you get that exception.

The craziest part for me is Gridin is playing LW, his normal position is RW which he started playing way back as a junior with his Avangard team.

Flames in 04 winning the western conference was more than a bad movie. Unless it was all just a movie..

If everyone is healthy, then Gridin gets sent down. I think the Flames do go with 14 to start the season, but he needs playing time more than practice time. He gets recalled when there is another injury, or when Conroy makes room for him.
You can't bench Sharangovich. I love Haynes and his insights. This is the first one I haven't agreed with in a very long time. You can not sit Sharangovich on game 1 of his 5 year deal. Sharangovich needs to play to work out of any funk he may be under. It is ok to bench him later on in the season if he is struggling - not as a punishment, but as a mental break. Benching Sharangovich on day 1 is just going to make him get inside his own head, and make him lose his confidence and start getting him to start second-guessing himself. That seems to be the issue with him as a player already.
I am not a fan of sending down Gridin - I love this kid. I think he is a core piece in the making, and from the existing forwards, in the system, I think he has the highest goal-scoring potential. However, Conroy either needs to make room for him, or you send him down to play big minutes in the AHL.

We'll see, but Gridin looks to be that 1 in 10 late 1st round pick that develops like a top 10-15 pick and that every team in that 18-32 range hopes for.
A result of good scouting but also picking in that range enough times to finally luck out.
They definitely needed a pick to pan out in that way and add a top line type of talent to the fold without being in one of those lottery slots.

Tracking to be our best late 1st since... Backlund, yeah? And for as much as I love Backs' two way game, Gridin has the chance to surpass Backs heavily in offensive output in his prime.

Gridin seems very confident. Grounded even. This kid knows what he has to do. He knows he has to prove everything and he wants wants wants the puck . Younger players, players with Zero confidence aren't like Gridin.
I will use Farabee as an example. That kid has zero self confidence and d you can see it . I hope Farabee figures it out because Frost has confidence as does Coronato
3 guys thst need to gain some confidence on this squad
Farabee Sharangovich Huberdeau sometimes
Play them with Gridin and Coronato and hopefully some confidence is gained along side them. We need to get them going .

I’m ok with him going down to the A to rip it up, but wouldn’t be mad if he stayed up either.

Game in game out Gridin has been at least a top 3 forward on this team, if this continues I'm not ok with sending him down at all.

Well he hasn't played an NHL game yet...obviously if he is a top forward he will stay

Except it's not obvious, will they waive someone else who could get claimed? or waive Gridin because they don't see him as a 4th liner.

If he forces his way to being a regular on a top line I guarantee they keep him there.

I said IF...he hasn't played an NHL game yet. NHL preseason games aren't NHL games

The good news is that Gridin doesn’t need to be waived if they decide that he needs more ice time than he’ll get with the Flames and sent to the Wranglers. I expect they’ll send him down if Huby is able to play. I think he’ll be back soon though.

I thought he was a middle 2nd rounder and wanted Miettinen in that spot, in the end what I think separated him was his drive and determination to be a very good NHL player.
I'd still love to swing a deal for Miettinen though as I think he might be held back because of Seattle's center depth.
