Davidson said the team was first notified of the allegations last week when the Blackhawks were in Columbus, Ohio, on Wednesday to play the Blue Jackets. Sources told ESPN's Emily Kaplan that Perry indeed traveled with the team to Columbus last Tuesday, a day before the game, and an incident occurred that day involving a team employee. Davidson said Perry, who did not play in the team's 7-3 loss, was "immediately pulled" from the game once the Blackhawks were notified, and at that point, the club began an investigation.

Asked for how Perry responded to the team's decision, Davidson declined to get into the details of his discussion with him. Davidson said he did speak with the team earlier in the day to inform it of the Blackhawks' decision to place Perry on waivers. He also said the players have no knowledge or any details of the incident.

FYI, Fleury was signed to a tryout just get him out of NHL jail so he could collect his pension.

What I find crazy is they pulled him from a game. What could it be that they pulled him from a game?
If it was alleged inappropriate behavior towards a female staff member, I doubt they pull him mid game, right?!

This season so far:
-Pinto banned for half a season after gambling scandal
-Babcock fired before he even got to coach a game
-The Oilers get off to a terrible start after hockey media labeled them as contenders and McDavid’s “cup or bust” comment
-The Sharks get blown out 10-2 two games in a row
-Lucic is arrested for domestic abuse
-Trouba wacks someone in the head with his stick and only gets fined
-The NHL tells Fluery he can’t wear a mask honoring his Indigenous’ wife’s culture
-Perry gets his contract terminated and a crazy rumor is spread about him sleeping with Bedard’s mom
Did I miss anything?

What’s kind of funny is those so called insiders likely know the story but don’t want to put their neck out there and tell it, because if the anti-player perception. Self preservation is real.

Until I hear from the Perry camp or we know more information I am going to refrain from speculating what actually happened. Lots of rumours swirling around but they is all they are at this time.

Open question for anyone that has kids playing sports, especially in the preteen and teen age groups. Does this sort of news (or the hockey Canada juniors, Kyle Beach, Bill Peters, etc.. ) make its way down to them?
I’m curious, because as a kid playing hockey in the early 2000s, I don’t remember hearing about hockey players and coaches being reprimanded for these sorts of things. Frankly, the only one I remember is the Michael Vick dogfighting (and he was allowed back in the league).
Because my one hope for all these incidents is that they can become teaching tools and warnings.
The vast majority of people don’t need public consequences to do the right thing, but I sadly believe there are people who do.
The boys will be boys era is over. And if we can’t convince people to act respectfully on their own, then I hope we can convince them out of self preservation and not wanting to be punished.

Yes - Sheldon Kennedy comes to mind. But before social media people had a lot more privacy, and the news of these sorts of allegations was much slower to spread.
Doug Gilmour was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with an underage babysitter in STL. It precipited his trade to the Flames, and while it was public knowledge in the STL newspapers, it wasn't really covered in Calgary. No way it goes down like that today, and there's no way he gets to continue playing hockey in the short term while the allegations are active.
Social media is evil and bad for you (see this thread for examples) - but actual shameful acts are easily exposed to a broad audience.

I dunno - I wasn’t involved in minor hockey back then because my kids were too young - but Graham James was charged in 1996. I imagine that in the higher age groups this was well known since he was coach of the Hitmen.

I was unhappy with Perry's signing to start with. Beauvillier is a better rental, with some upside for flipping at the deadline. As far as the rumors...all I can say for sure is that Melanie Bedard is extremely attractive!

Great recap - Likely also worth mentioning the Senators losing a first round draft pick as part of the nullified Dadonov trade fiasco with Vegas.

Maybe, but I never got the sense he was truly contrite for what he did.

I dunno… he played incredibly reserved for the rest of his career in my opinion. Always felt like you could see the incident on him at all times.

The thing I remember the most about Bertuzzi's time with the flames were the lazy backhanded passes/clearing attempts though the middle of ice in his own end.
