Why Huberdeau and Lindholm still together?

Pee wee level PP coaching on the Flames seems to be a requirement of the position. One timers on the off-wing is mandatory for effective PPs.

Lost count of the Huberdeau tracker, but I don’t think he had a good touch that period. And the three I gave him in the first were all pretty generous.

Kadri Zary Shara Ruzicka Zadorov

would probably be a better unit then

Huby Lindholm Anderson Mangipane Weegar

And that’s the problem with our team

Problem is that sometimes they even move it around pretty good with decent pressure, but there's nobody to put it in the net. Nobody with a big one-timer ready to blast away. Last year at least we had Toffoli who could snipe once in a while. This year, who's that guy? They really have nobody. It should be Coronato eventually. But right now, they don't have 'that' guy. So unless they get tips in front or ugly rebounds or something the PP won't do much usually. They desperately need at least a couple snipers to be a competitive team. Until then, they'll continue to struggle to score.

It does seem like the general edict from coaching is to make one additional pass in the hopes of getting a clearer shot. Obviously a contrast from the 'just hit the pads' Sutter era. But they're very often forcing the additional pass and passing up fine opportunities to shoot. Not just this game, but all season.

Other thing I've noticed this year is that our behind-the-back pass numbers have increased? I've seen so many of them this year, but this team doesn't have the skill level to do that.

Things the Flames have been doing a decent job of so far today: faceoffs, and at least putting the puck on net.

Not sure what Savard is trying to accomplish on the PP....there are never guys in position for a cross-seam pass, just off the post, and when a Flame DOES get to that position with the puck (usually coming from behind the net or out of the corner) they pass it back to the blueline. Just take a fricken shot!

Too many missed opportunities...and good ones.

Good to see Kads doing better. Seems engaged and in the middle of things - which works for him.

I never understand why the Flames don't have guys on their off-wing on the PP.

Organizational belief that PP goals aren’t scored on big shots or one-timers. Treliving talked about it a few different times - one timers aren’t what they believe works on the PP.

Shots from the point, bodies at the net.
