It's amazing it hasn't happened yet. I literally tune into random NHL games if they're heading to OT and will promptly turn those same games off if OT ends without a goal. No interest in watching a shootout if the Flames aren't involved.

I'm going to guess 4-3 Winnipeg.

Edit: 4-4. Huh. Close.
The 2 first period goals weren't on Markstrom. But the 2 in the second were not good.

Flames dominated the 2nd (and scored 3), but the 2 WPG goals sucked the life out of their momentum.

Coronato, Backlund, Kadri standing out the most to me. Bunch of players that are just 'meh'. Be nice to get an early PP goal in the 3rd.

Coronato has to have a lot of fans excited. Smart, works hard, and can snipe. Going to be very good for a lot of years.

Or it's just preseason. Kipper could look pretty bad too.

In preseason really the rookies are the only ones competing. Everyone else is just trying to knock off the rust and not get hurt.

Heck, give him #14 too. Alternate between the two. You'd sell twice as many jerseys. I'm a marketing genius.

Just tell him to stay at home for the remainder of his contract.

I hate the last 5 minutes of regulation even more when it's tied. Nobody has any incentive to break the tie, so both teams just play the trap the whole 5 minutes. Boring hockey. Let's give teams an incentive to win it in regulation by awarding a 3rd point for a regulation win, and if they still can't settle it for 2 points in OT, only award 1 point for a shootout win. With no loser points.

They really messed it up with that OTL point. Win-lose should be 2-0 and a tie is 1-1. There was nothing wrong with that.

A race to the puck at center, from their creases, the winner has an empty net to shoot at

The NHL claimed that fans didn't like ties. But soccer awards 3 points for a win and 1 to each team for a draw, so if we want a winner, why not make a regulation win worth more than an overtime win, and a shootout win worth the least? It will keep up the sense of urgency for the whole game and fix the problems with the end of the 3rd period and with the entire OT being boring, possession hockey with endless circling around in the defensive and neutral zones. At the same time, it will reduce the effect of the two-ring circus otherwise known as the shootout on overall results.

3-2-1 is far too obvious - so it will never happen

... at least not while McDavid remains in the league...

Edit: apologies for mentioning a No Good in the GT, I'm almost as bad as SportsNet!
