It was...interesting. I'm not going to say that I loved it or anything, I certainly didnt hate it, but unless there is some massive payoff upcoming its really ruining the characters from Rebels.

Sabine...is plunging the Galaxy into another war while completely invalidating Ezra's sacrifice and frankly...they're making it appear as though she doesnt care. Like she's not taking it seriously.

They also didnt really sell the audience on why finding Ezra is so important. I assume so that he can train Jacen Sindulla? But thats just a guess and Jedi are pouring out of the woodwork lately so I dont see why Ezra is so critical.

Ahsoka hardly matters, really Thrawn remains to be seen right now although seeing his ship and troops was very cool.

At the moment Skoll and Shin are the most interesting characters.

It's really too bad Ray Stevenson passed away. He absolutely kills it in this show. I feel like Baylan could be right out of the prequel era. Him and Shin are great new characters, which is rare for Disney-era Star Wars.

Bordizzo's portrayal of Sabine falls flat for me, though. Feels like she's going through the motions a bit. I don't feel like I'm watching someone look for and find her long-lost friend.

The casting has been a mixed bag for me this show. Not huge on Herra's actress either.

I like that the new galaxy has been unkind to thrawn and his once feared fleet and every one wants to get back to the main galaxy because they have real power there, and can be a safe distance from whatever threatening powers exist in this galaxy that have knocked them down the food chain.

Liked the mothers referring to Sabine as "it". I laughed.

Also Enoch aka goldface's "Die Well"

Baylan going towards what every one else is fleeing makes him even cooler. Why did you have to leave us Stevenson..

Agreed. Baylan is so prequels but in a good way. He feels plucked right out of George Lucas star wars.

I don't know if it's the immaculate beard or his delivery but he's captivating, and Shin is the perfect side kick to bounce dialogue off him.

Award this man an Emmy, now.

I know this is going to be a sexist-pig thing to say, but I'm a fan of every time she walks away from the camera. That orange flight suit works for her...

Can't go wrong with Ramona Flowers.

Ewan has good taste.

Echoing most here RE: Sabine--she's trying, but maybe trying too hard and not landing the delivery? I can't put my finger on it but every minute of screentime dedicated to her detracts from the episode. More time should've been spent on Baylan and Shin for sure. Regarding Ray Stephenson and his untimely departure--I saw a rumour/suggestion on Reddit that Liev Schreiber take over in his place and I kind of dig it.

I really hope that Baylan's story extends beyond Season 1 because it really is the best part of the show for me right now.

Thrawn's intro was awesome but I agree that he was pretty quiet; I had to swap to my headphones to make out some of his lines (and bless the subtitles).

I really enjoyed the bruised/battered/taped together trooper armor and ship, as it really emphasizes how rough it has been for Thrawn and his ilk in this galaxy. I really wonder what threat looms over them that they're hinting at.

No exaggeration and not saying this just to hate but the actress comes off as someone in her first role in anything.

She'll be stone faced when there should be some emotion, then over-act the next scene when you're not expecting it. Just all over the place and lacking the subtleties that sell the dialogue.

It's like she'd reading off the script without understanding the emotional context for each scene.

Jarring when it contrasts against someone like Stevenson.

It wouldn't be an issue either if she wasn't such a fixture in the show, but unfortunately she is.

Yeah it's tough though. What are her motivations? Does she want to be a Jedi? Does she want to protect the peace? Does she want to save her "friend"? If her character cared about her friend at all she would have left him there. Especially if saving him meant risking anyone else but herself, let alone the f***ing galaxy. She appears to have literally zero interest in using the force outside of a couple times she tried to use it to get out of a jam. The Sabine from Rebels would have destroyed that map without even hesitating. They didn't even build up enough of a relationship between them for even watchers of Rebels to care about getting him back. Maybe if they had some flashbacks ala Ahsoka/Anakin.

It's not a well defined character right now. And it's hard to see how she can be redeemed or even care if she goes bad. She's just like shrugging along.

Baylan and Shinn are so damn interesting. And Shinn has such an amazing costume! The flaired edge on her pauldrins is what takes it over the top vs Baylan.

And was that the first time somebody has said "A long time ago, in a galaxy far away." inside the franchise? I think it was.

Man, y'all are way more invested in this than I am.

Sabine made an irrational decision. </plot point> Don't know why it has to be more complicated than that.

Conversely, Baylan and Shin are "so damned interesting"? Really? Until yesterday's episode I didn't even know what the #### Shin's name was!

For those who haven't seen Rebels or Zahn's Thrawn trilogy in legends, he is a very well written and threatening character - which is a nice change from the regular incompetence of the Empire/First Order. At least he should be.

I guess there are mixed views about this show but I'm enjoying it.

The problem with the show, I will say, is that now everyone should basically be cheering for Thrawn to win - you want him to make it back to the main galaxy (does it have a name?) and get that new civil war going, because he's actually an interesting and compelling villain, for this show and possibly the other ones.

Baylan is the other most interesting character because he's the only one where it's legitimately not clear what he's after. His claim to want to "break the cycle" and his rejection of Shin's suggestion that they're going to "rise to power" makes me actually really curious about his motivations here. Maybe he's secretly got a plan to avert this new war his own way, or some other "surprise, he's actually a good guy" twist is in the works.

Thinking Shin and Baylan will choose opposite sides in the next two episodes.

You can already see Shin questioning Baylan's choices.

Earlier people thought Baylan would go good and Shin bad because he sympathizes with the jedi but Shin comes across more aggressive and power hungry. Now many are speculating Shin will turn good and Baylan will try to use this ancient power to "break the wheel" which gets him killed (while Thrawn slips back to galaxy A to set up the movie).

Maybe they both remain grey characters per se, but they just choose different paths since their motivations appear to be different.

####. I don't even know. Their enigmatic nature is intriguing as heck though.

Haha. Wasn't he trying to steal a crate in a street chase in the first episode as well?

But he was just trying to live one jump ahead of the law man.

These last couple of episodes have really turned around the series for me. These episodes have been totally out there, but it still feels like Star Wars to me.

Thrawn as a villain seems great. He's not totally cartoony. He seems like a legit military leader.

Even Sabine in the last episode was great. My issue with her is probably more to do with the crappy dialogue she was forced to spew out in the first few episodes.

I'd put Ahsoka on the level of the Obi Wan series, where it really went off the rails with the Inquisitor crap, but then redeemed itself with the later bits.

Glad I'm not beholden to the animated stuff because I've enjoyed the last two episodes and entire series. Thrawn was awesome, his little Stormtrooper Enoch(?) looked incredible and yes Ray Stevenson is so fun to watch

Sabine is good, I don't understand the complaints.

Best part is David Tennant as the robot, his voice is just so perfect.
