Maybe your T.V. was on mute because the crowd was going crazy all game. Dallas Stars and playoff hockey in my lifetime has always been a good time for the crowd.

They were saying the teams that played in the bubble during the Covid season not that they were bubble teams making the playoffs

Hat tip to Seattle.
Pretty interesting what Francis built.
Should make others think about another way.
Complete opposite of Deadmonton.
Balanced lineup with a plan is a real threat.

Seattle did great, sorry to see them go down in such a tight game but Dallas was the better team all night. Looking forward to seeing another year of experience for Beniers, Wright coming in is exciting.

Pretty crazy that the conference finals in the NBA and NHL have 3 identical matchups from their bubble playoffs in the summer of 2020. NHL east the only fresh series

Dallas seems to be the new poster child for not needing to bottom out to have a strong rebuild. Heiskenan was a high pick in a year they won the lottery and moved up. Robertson, Hintz, Ottenger, Johnson all of which were picks outside the lottery.
Jim Nill has solidified himself as a top GM in my opinion

I'm not going to discount his work as their scouts have done an absolutely fantastic job but I wouldn't consider their success as repeatable or a poster child for building a team. Finding franchise and foundational players outside the lottery is one thing but for a team to land a handful in a short amount of time like they did is extremely fortunate as if some of those picks don't go their way that organization is closer to the Sharks than a contender. Most teams simply don't draft well enough to build a team like this.

Helps when their old guys find their game and contribute like kids: Benn had a great year, Pavelski almost PPG at 38 and to a degree Seguin. Suter can still play, too.
Carolina is an interesting team. No one over PPG. Only 3 players over 20 goals. Only one top 5 draft pick in the lineup and he's not really their centrepiece. And older goalie with a pedestrian .904 save% this season. Yet they just seem very strong as a team.

Funny part is in a different universe the Flames are potentially that team.
Fox, Andersson, Kylington, Dube, Gaudreau, Wolf, Mangiapane were all drafted outside of the lottery too. (And with more NHL time I doubt Zary/Pelletier would have been that different to Johnson).
The Flames have actually been similarly good at drafting as the Stars were.
Problem being Fox, Tkachuk, and Gaudreau are no longer with the team.

Brind'Amour is simply one of the best coaches in the league. The entire team buys into his 200 foot game identity.

Carolina just has a very, very good coach. No one out padding personal stats, always team first and they do win as a team.

Arguably that's the Sutter way as well, but obviously it was lacking in the execution this year.
