Sounds like some Costcos received shipments of children’s Tylenol. We were able to grab some at the Okotoks location, but I did hear there were other people successful at Calgary locations too. We were on our last bottle, so it was getting a little bit stressful. Our little guy has had fibreal seizures in the past, so we always try to have an extra bottle on hand just in case he has another one.

This is true. They received some earlier this week and my significant other bought a bottle at Beacon Hill. Strict limit of 1. We didn't need it but gave it to one of our neighbors who has young kids in case they needed it.

There was an article in the Herald yesterday -- looks like shipments from overseas are starting to trickle in: https://calgaryherald.com/news/local...ary-pharmacies
Quote:
Several city pharmacies who spoke to Postmedia on Thursday said they had received shipments of children’s Tylenol following Health Canada’s announcement last month it had procured one million bottles of foreign-produced supply.

At the Flames game last night Harvey came to our section where a young girl wearing a Habs jersey was sitting. The moron wearing the costume had the idea to mess with her by sticking his disgusting paw into her popcorn grab a handful and throw it at her.
I immediately thought about how many surfaces, hands etc that Harvey would touch in his costume. He just slams all those germs into this little girls popcorn and it was sickening to me. It is not like they can wash that costume until the game is over. If that was my kid she wouldn’t have another kernel of that $10 bag of popcorn after that.

I got in about 70 bottles. After one day and 70 separate conversations about how lots of people had 3 sick kids at home so they still could only have one bottle, we're now out again. I may get another shipment next week

I haven't checked all the stats, but as far as deaths under 20 go, this year is an especially bad flu year to begin with.

Childrens hospital is crazy right now. Came in with predicted 2.5 hour wait we are now approaching 6. Really makes you think about just gambling and staying home vs being seen by a Dr since We will probably be leaving with more illnesses then we came in with.

Was told from a nurse friend that you can pretty much disregard the posted wait times as something is causing them to be critically wrong.
Lots of people going in thinking a couple hours and leaving 15-20 hours later. Best of luck with whatever your kid is going through. This must be hell on parents.

The wait times from what I've experienced are an average time to first see a doctor, not the amount of time you'll be at the ER. Of course the busier it is, the more patients the staff are dealing with, and the longer it takes to be assessed, treated and released.
I took my 2yo daughter in earlier this week. The wait time was showing a 2.5 hour wait at about 5pm. We got put on higher priority so ended up seeing the doctor around 2 hours after arriving. Factoring in all the tests, imaging, waiting for results, etc, we didn't leave until close to 1am. I think we were sadly very fortunate with that timing.

Daughters been quite sick for a couple of days now. Massive rash and blisters and not eating anything. Turns out it’s not Covid or the flu, but Hand, Foot and Mouth disease. Pray for my guys, apparently even if your kid handles it well it’s unbearable if an adult catches it or some ####.
Stay safe guys. Utilize 811/virtual docs wherever necessary, I couldn’t imagine trying to make it through these wait times with my kid as sick as she was. My heart goes out to anyone dealing with that.

Ugh, that’s brutal. Hope she starts feeling better soon and everyone else in the house is able to avoid it.
Does anyone know why HFM has been so prevalent in the last few years? I can’t remember it being a thing when I was a kid, but now it seems like every kid we know has had it. Our day home lady hadn’t had an outbreak in over 35 years until this year. Thankfully, our kids had very mild symptoms and the adults were able to not get sick.

I'm not sure prevalence has increased much. Two big things 1) once you have kids that age you notice it because you never would have before, 2) we used to just say "the kid was sick", but since COVID we're much more curious with what kind of sick

You would certainly have far more experience than me, so thanks for weighing in. It’s just that HFM has such brutal symptoms I would have assumed it would have been more visible if it was as prevalent when I was younger.

It's a mild fever with some mild respiratory illness only for most infections so they don't get diagnosed as HFM. When the brutal symptoms come though, they are indeed brutal

Interesting, I didn’t know that it usually presented itself with the more mild symptoms. Good to know!
Thankfully, we are back to comfortable inventories of kids Tylenol/advil in the house. We were down to our last bottle, so it was getting a bit dicey.
