LTIR isn't this simple though. You have to demote the players that put you as close to the cap without going over it before putting those players on LTIR on day 1 of the season in order to actually get full relief for them. It's a fairly difficult math problem for aome teams, which is why teams want to get rid of LTIR guys in a lot of cases. I don't know if the Oilers have a realistic path to ensuring they get full relief, and they need it because of how tight to the limit they're going to be.
