If the Flames win the cup (or at least make it to conference finals), and then the bad contracts become an issue, you deal with it then. That's worth the price to win it all.
Ya, it's hilarious when fans get upset when their team pays the price to build a winner. You're supposed to win, that's the point.

You're moving out Monahan at 6.35 who was down and out, and bringing in Kadri at 7.

I'd say that's quite a swap.

I don’t get the complaining about 4-5 yrs down the road. Screw it, enjoy the ride for the next 2-3. A lot will change before then. Being constantly worried about the future must suck for some fans. I don’t get it, have some optimism and enjoy the ride. Its almost like complaining would be easier. For those that wanted a rebuild they would just complain about the returns we got for our players, then about who we drafted. Always something, take up bird watching or something less stressful for you.

Finally the Flames get deep at center, I'm a happy fan. I'm worried about the long term cost effectiveness, but they have clearly picked a direction - win now - and gone all in. All you can ask for as a fan. Very excited for the next season now.

Good of your intuition to tell you to run up a mountain to get signal.

When's the last time the Flames were this deep at centre?

Honestly if Monahan plays anything like he did last year we will be thankful he's not on the team. I know it was because of injuries but he was brutal and deserved no spot in the lineup. I don't know if we really have to worry much about him bouncing back, we have been waiting for him to do that for the last 2 seasons and he's arguably only gotten worse.

As long as it didn't take a 1st to get rid of the Monahan contract, yup.

I have 14 Flames jerseys. With Monahan gone, I have zero roster players in my collection. Time to spend some money, I suppose

The calgary sharks!

Doing this sheet worked out real well for them. All them Stanley cups on display.

We are going to be playing him in a colorado situation here, not a toronto situation. His linemates are going to be Mangi and probably one of Toffoli or Dube. Lindholm and Huby are likely going to get the prime d matchups, while Backlund will be taking the heavy d zone starts, leaving Kadri hopefully open for feasting like last season. I think the fit is there.
His last couple years in Toronto he played on the top power play unit and played with a variety of guys at even strength but not Matthews or Marner.

https://frozenpool.dobbersports.com/players/nazem-kadri - that was his last year in Toronto.

It's really unbelievable how many people want to look at the downside of everything. Seriously, the Johnny and MT era is gone, time to embrace change. Already calls of "painful rebuild in 5 years"????? WHAT??? Half the posts on this board were about a "painful rebuild in 2023 because of Johnny leaving. God, enough with the dramatics.
