The rope is as long as Kylington wants it to be.

He implied, you inferred. That wording is clumsy, but it doesn't explicitly include OK with those other players.

Speaking to the substance abuse program, I don't know that anybody should have their arm twisted into being revealed, but being public is probably for the best for a bunch of reasons.

Treliving specifically stated that it wasn’t substance abuse related months ago.

Yeah, he was pretty clear about that. It is worth mentioning that the program is the "Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program" or SABHP for short. The name implies that it captures more than just substance abuse issues, although it is probably likely that most players who enter it do so because of substance abuse just given how common of a problem it is.

I am not sure if the salary cap rules apply like they do with LTIR though. I know players entered into the program do not count against the cap, but I don't know if it just means that the team can exceed the cap temporarily like with LTIR, or if there are actual cap savings. I assume it is the latter since putting a player on LTIR is strictly a team decision with no discretion from the player, whereas the SABHP is a player decision even if the team can pressure a player to enter.

Either way, this is an OT discussion because there is no reason to assume that this could be an avenue for the Flames since we have no idea what Kylington is dealing with.

Very sick immediate family member makes the most sense to me. He would be trying to spend as much time with that person as possible, provide support and wouldn't want to risk being in another continent. It would also be impossible to provide a time of return.

Sometimes I think the speculation is worse than the truth, because in this day and age – and we see this in a lot of different stories – reporters won’t report on the speculation, so it goes wild on social media and the internet. All the best to Kylington, and all the players being supported by the program - Texier, Vrana, Berdin, and I'm sure more.
I hope Kyllington is doing alright. But I just wanted to post this "credible" and "reporters won't report on speculation" are two things that should never be associated with Friedman.

Except Friedman makes it very clear when he is 'reporting' something, or 'speculating' something.

He should report he is "guessing" at something like the other insiders.
