Yeah, I was wondering if that's a male thing or it's male's inferiority complex? Women can say "oh she's pretty." or, "oh she is quite beautiful" without any problem.

Anyway, IMO same situation here , Treliving will do everything to sign them, especially Huberdeau. This is his legacy trade.
|
Isn’t that just obvious though? He just traded for two pending UFAs, I don’t think he’s going to half ass getting them signed. Or any player for that matter.

Dunno where it comes from. But for the record, practically half this board has commented on Gudbranson being a specimen.

I just think the whole thing in this thread is creepy...regardless. What is the point really...is it sexist? admiration on the male form (not bloody likely)? unfiltered thoughts? It is what I would term "verbal vomit" if this was a conversation I was privy to, so in a forum context, post puke?

I am completely unable to discern a male's looks.

I think lifestyle trumps winning for a majority of these new aged star players.
Unfortunately the weather plays such a pivotal role in these decisions because generally it has a huge impact on your daily mood, no matter what financial category you fall under. It makes drafting that much more important for teams like Calgary and making the right decisions are crucial when you have a window where star players are still under team control. I don't think the Flames have done a particularly good job of navigating these situations. Hopefully the Tkachuk trade is a shift in mindset.

Montreal is a fabulous city.
French language is no issue, nor the media (unless you are francophone).
Taxes definitely a big deal though.

Yes Montreal is a lot of fun, great food, great pubs, the summer is great, the comedy festival is great, not far from the US if you are so inclined.

Huberdeau was on Tim & Friends this afternoon - he reiterated his interest in signing long term with the Flames.
He also mentioned he knows Markstrom, and that they spoke today and he is looking forward to get going.

Having lived in Calgary, Toronto and Ottawa, I can say one benefit of Montreal over Calgary is its proximity to fun American cities as well. It is a 90 minute flight to Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington. Calgary is a long flight to anywhere fun. Even as someone who often drives to those cities, they are all about 7 hour drives from Ottawa/Montreal (a little farther from Toronto).

I agree with this. I've lived in Calgary and Toronto and my daughter lives in Montreal so I know all three cities very well. The proximity out east is great, as are the activities in bigger cities. With that said, that's the only thing that is better there. Calgary's climate is much better than either of those cities. Our culture is also much nicer, as is the space, the affordability and the mountains nearby. Easy choice to live here.

Also depends on the stage of life you're in. I moved to Toronto 10 years ago, mid 20s, it was awesome from a lifestyle perspective vs Calgary, for a single guy. Now in my mid 30s, perspectives change and returning home to Calgary becomes a lot more appealing. The weather is virtually the same although the system in which Toronto has the roads cleaned is much better than Calgary, making it easier to commute.

Right. Young guys want NYC and Vegas. Vets want San Jose and Phoenix. Imminent retirees want to go back home.
