That's the problem it's impossible to say...Nobody is 100% ever.

It's obvious they are gaming the system, the second they have cap space someone will be good to go.

They really just need to make it so the lineup you ice in the playoffs also needs to be cap compliant IMO.

I said VGK on the hook for his full salary. Which is of course a bit ridiculous, but it would be my negotiating anchor if I were Dadonov/the PA.

Voiding the trade is the simplest answer, but IMO Dadonov has at least a bit of an argument that VGK breached his contract, moreso than the Kadri situation. VGK should face some sort of punishment.

No, he's upholding the contract he signed which forbade relocation to certain locations. They could trade him somewhere else, or wait until the off-season to buy him out.

I don't see why the NHL couldn't just pay Dadonov the remainder of what he is owed before making him a free agent. They have left him in a bad situation where he either has to go where he doesn't want to go or go where they don't want him. And apparently, the league itself has ####ed up twice in this process

Who should pay him? He's set to be paid $6.5 million next year.

The Knights should be on the hook for all of this. Why have NTC in contracts if they don’t have to be upheld?

Vegas shouldn’t be let off the hook here, punish them for this “mistake”. Next time this won’t happen.

The Henderson Silver Knights will be getting a rotating cast of players assigned for "conditioning purposes" to finish out the regular season is my guess.

Can’t rotate all that much, you only get 4 callups after the trade deadline.

What about "conditioning stints"?

Players on conditioning stints still count against the cap.

How is this different then if they didn't screw up the paperwork?

They ask him to waive, he says no.

Same situation. Either way he knows Vegas tried to trade him/had a deal to Anaheim and he blocks it.

Oh absolutely, I was responding to the suggestion that the league should just pay him out. It's not that simple, especially with another year on the contract.

this really doesn't seem all that complicated...they traded him to a team on his no trade list without asking him to waive.

no deal

Flames were 30 seconds late on the Zucker deal and the league called it off lol

Knights fans aren't that aware...most of the people in the stands are there to drink and party...cheer when the red light tells you to (although that might not happen much these days)

I don't understand, why is it ridiculous for VGK on the hook for his salary? He is under contract, a guarantee contract with Vegas. Honest question.

Contract interpretations I would think are certainly more complicated than that situation though. As black and white as we think they should be, in any contract there's a lot of grey that needs to be sorted out (how lawyers make a living).

Who's responsibility is it to ensure there's a list, players or teams. Then who's responsibility was it after the first trade. I'm guessing the NHL lawyers needed to take time to comb through and basically decide, who are we pissing off here, the player or the team (Vegas), and who will have a stronger legal case against us once we do. Sounds like the NHL lawyers have determined the best outcome here is the team is in the wrong, and are happy to defend that legally if required.

That's a lot more complex than enforcing their own trade deadline submission rules.
