That sonofabitch!
He could have waited a game or two! Who does he think he is? Tyler Toffoli?

If he is back for game one of the playoffs its obvious they are using nagging injuries to game the system
If Stone gets a back surgery and is out until next year I will retract but I highly doubt it
|
This is exactly what this thread should come down to. If he isn't ready for playoffs then those of us that are skeptical should retract. If he's ready for round 1 and the Knights field a $90mil team, I think it's pretty obvious what happened, at that point.

I think alot of hockey fans are nieve to the lengths hockey clubs and sports clubs will go to to get a championship, do people actually think hockey clubs are honest about everything, a 15 year old figure skater was just caught with performance enhancing drugs in her system.
I wish the league would crack down to this, I think they know what is going on, but they can't prove it, one day it would be nice to finally see some of these LTIR's, exposed for what they are, cap circumvention

feels like a pretty easy thing to fix if the league wants to ... just introduce a "you can't ice a lineup exceeding x $ in the playoffs" rule. The league has cracked down on other cap circumvention stuff before (recapture penalty etc), so I don't see how they can allow this BS to continue to happen.

Agreed.
The CBA, is no different than public policy, building codes, and laws in general. They are reactionary, usually result in unintended consequences once they are in practice, and ALWAYS upset a portion of the population.
The league will adjust, and there will be something new to complain about.

They may as well go back to the 15 year contracts instead of carrying on with this charade.

They could. The uncomfortable truth is they don’t want to fix it. The owners have had the conversation in the past and they are fine with that loophole. This might not make fans happy (particularly of other teams), but who cares?

The NHL should care a lot if their actions (or inactions) make fans happy or not since we're the only reason this whole thing can even exist.

So the Sabres are allowing Drake Caggulia to get the same neck fusion surgery they would not let Eichel get?

The opposite, he's getting the fusion surgery that Eichel refused to get. Disc replacement is what Eichel wanted and eventually got

That even covers off long term injuries where you need to make a move to compete, but still could bring back the injured player. You just need to take the cap into consideration for who is dressing. Benched guys don’t count (unlike during the season). It seems so obvious.

I haven't thought this through fully, so there may be an obvious reason why it would not be possible - but, if you are trading for a player, or signing a UFA that makes you non-cap compliant with a full healthy roster the trade should not be able to close until the cap space is cleared. Make it similar to when you buy a house, ie. this deal will close in one week conditional on team x becoming cap compliant.

Alex Tuch, after coming back from surgery, currently has 7 goals, 21 points in 19 games, and is a +5 in Buffalo. Interesting.

And Krebs has 9 points in 17 games.
So as much as Buffalo was criticized for not getting enough, and a sense from some that the Flames could have "easily beaten the offer", the early returns would suggest Buffalo may have been right.

I always thought Tuch was underrated and kind of buried on the Vegas roster. He has a lot of tools in a big frame.

Always wished we could get him somehow.
Happy to see him thriving outside of Vegas.
